Harris, Johnson, Johnson, and Howard need to play more

Strickland has 4 touchdowns and looks like our second or third best receiver.

I dont want to see him replaced any time soon.

I do not think anyone is talking about outright replacement. Just what additional RB gets minutes, and who steps up when one of our two deep running backs gets banged up. RBs very seldom go the season without having to be subbed for.

Both of the backs miss so many cut back lanes. There's just no pure RB vision with either of them. I'm disappointed in this aspect with Neal almost thinking he's regressed because he had it in HS. Was really nice to see him bounce one outside though for a long gain Saturday. We need more of that when nothing is there.

Howard was pure hit the hole, he didn't show any RB vision if you base it on hitting cut back lanes.

That is what I hoping for to happen all year vs every team. The DB's and LB's to a point need to get their sea legs going and some confidence and the DL HAS to be huge in the FSU game.

Clemson has the best DL in CFB and gave up a ton of yards this week... we have a decent DL. They’ll have days and moments. But we’re not going to make every game look like Wagner

He was in the game to eat clock, and was only given straight ahead dive plays, averaging about 6 yards. You do not do cut backs when the coach has told you to hang onto the ball and run out the clock.

I am aware, but if the complaint is that are other backs do not cut-back, hard to make an argument that Howard is better given information available today unless you think Howard is a better pure runner than Strickland/Neal based off of playing with 2nd stringers against a FCS team when the game is decided.

Many thought Pierre was the best "runner" of any of the running backs on the team last year after our FCS game.

i think people really need to watch the game to see if holes are being missed. sometimes the hole is there and goes away and thats not a running mistake. thinking a back is going to hit a hole at speed and then cut to a hole 5 yds away isnt happening. we dont have a dancing Bell back there just waiting to decide. This is a hit it at speed offense by design which is why when the burst they do go big.

Neal has made several really good runs and cuts, doesnt mean they went for a ton of yards some of those just get 2-3 too.

I'd love to see more Harris and N Johnson. Harris could be our best receiver ever to have only caught one pass in his career. Let me see more. Butler's spot is there for the taking.

Howard on the other hand could be a difference maker. If he ends up breaking a couple runs he could end up the #1 back and still not start. His ability to read holes and blocks is different than Strickland or Neal.

I do go back and watch. I watch, I pause, I rewind, I use slow-mo. I see when they do get into the 2nd level and can't make a move bouncing out or in and just slam straight ahead.

Babers offense doesn't require a straight ahead no juke running back. Yes the middle can be open for huge straight ahead chunk runs (and that's what we want) but you need a back that can make moves. Go watch Travis Greene at Bowling Green who played for Babers.

I won't point them all out but two of my favorites are at 3:15 and 4:12

You seem to being saying he can't based on that I am saying he had no need nor was he intended to do that. He in my opinion was the better straight ahead runner in the game. You can argue he was up against tired or lesser defenders if you want. I know he is faster than Strickland, but he is less experienced. Pierre in my opinion is still in the picture but has struggled with ball security and getting the play book down.
I am just glad that we now have some pretty good options at RB going forward and we add Abdul Adams next year, hooray for us.

I think you are missing my point. I am saying that the DL has to step up for the FSU game to cover for the LB and DB's because of the speed of the FSU WR's and add to that their terrific RB.

think about this. strick is a 3 year starter. and in his freshman year even though he didn't start he played in all 12 games. heck, I remember his very first game. he had two runs of 21 yards each (1 td) and everyone thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. to be a 3 year starter he must be doing something right.

Obviously Adams will be the guy next year but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for SU to try and bring in another RB in this current class especially a speed guy with Howard more of a power guy with a burst.

Maybe Howard didn’t hit cut back lanes as stated but I will tell us he hit them holes faster than either Strick or Neal. Haven’t seen his cutback ability yet so I myself can’t say if he is similar to other two. I don’t know about top speed but I will tell u Howard is one of the fastest in 5yds I have seen in a while.

YES! Harris needs to see about 75% of the reps Butler is getting, Devin can get the other 25%. There is no excuse to continue to trot him out there every week. There is a use for Butler, he had a nice end around vs Wagner, everyone knows about the TD pass last year vs LSU, but he just simply is not a Power 5 WR, he's just not. He doesnt posses the hands. And as plenty have pointed out, he was a HS QB, Maryland recruited him as a SS, he just doesnt have the skills at WR, and that's not a knock on him as a football player.

Also Nykiem should start at inside receiver over Riley, I expect to see that change on the depth chart coming sooner rather than later.

Nykeim is clearly a difference maker.

Important to note that he was injured / unable to practice at full speed for the majority of preseason camp this summer. Hopefully, as he gets healthier, he can get phased in more and more.

That is incorrect. His vision was excellent. A good cut is usually no more than a step in one direction.
