Don't forget Richards on passing downs.

That turnover play Jonathan made all by himself was filthy. 2nd string DE doing that?

The one thing we'll need to watch for as a defense is we're going to face a lot of draws and screens on 3rd down. Can't let those guys tee off on you. Ward knows it, which is why the 3 man fronts. But when those 3 man fronts get a sack, that's when you know the other team is beat.

Yep, Foster and Cisco have a tough task picking up the screens.

Trill and Cordy did a lot of work for the safeties last night imo.

How about CF tackling the receiver, through his own blocker on the catch at the line of scrimmage? That was borderline Revis like, though it seemed 3 struggled the rest of the half.

"...though it seemed 3 struggled the rest of the half. " Fredrick was frustrated. You could see it in the pass interference call.

They went up against a Uconn level opponent half the teams in FCS could beat Liberty can we wait a week for threads like this calling them the best unit in the country?

You must have been watching a different game. Their QB stunk but they had An NFL wideout, a returning 1000 yard rusher and certainly a defense with attitude.

This was not Rutgers

Brandon Berry is a very good football player. He would have been the 3rd DE on any SU team in the last 30 years other than this team.

Seems like the most balanced talent in the modern era. If you gave me Freeney and whoever you thought was the worst guy that started opposite him, I would probably take that tandem over our starters now. That's not a knock on Coleman and Robinson, just a statement about how ridiculous Freeney was.

I would think there are some lineman from the late '50's and early '60's that would go into the conversation but different eras are so hard to compare.

Rob Burnett and Paul Frase. Freeney and Josh Thomas
You think its comparable? None of this years guys are Freeney. But together I think this may be the most formidable pass rush we’ve had. More to be seen i suppose.

Freeney and Pettijohn were really good. Unfortunately Freeney got hurt and missed the last 4 games in his junior/Pettijohn’s senior season.

My first thought was to go back to Freeney. I couldn't remember who he teamed with immediately but Duke really came on later in his career. Heck Freeney and me would be a good combo.

It's like we had two Freeneys, one on each side. (Well...almost. Freeney was historically great.)

As long as we are reminiscing, don't forget 'Four Wheel Drive' from the 80's: Tim Green, Bill Pendock, Jamie Kimmel and Blaise Winter. A little later Tim Green and Ted Gregory made a pretty good duo, although neither was an end.

Is this your first time watching our ends play or did you hide under a rock all last year?

Yeah. Easy to forget because of Freeney’s incredible 2001 but Pettijohn had 10.5 sacks in 99 and 7.5 in 2000 and was all Big East both years.

It’s up there. Top 3 of all time for sure. However, Freeney will always be the best we had at that position.
