Serious Q. Just had a little kerfuffle on Twitter.

@SyracuseAirport tweeted a photo of one of their stores selling a bunch of Clemson gear. Basically like, "Hey did you forget your Clemson shirt? Buy one here!" I responded that it seems like a bad look and I had never seen that at a road airport before. Then Brent Axe basically was like, no it's good to be welcoming to road fans etc, and he had no problem with it.

I never said that we shouldn't be. Clemson fans are awesome. Give them high 5's (Otto is at the airport today). Invite them to tailgates. Talk football over a beer with them. That's all awesome. No issues. But selling them Clemson gear when they land in our airport? That seems a bridge too far and one that is 100% about trying to make a few extra bucks than it is about "being hospitable". And not that it's bad to try to make some $, but let's not act like it is all about being hospitable.

Anyway, I got some folks agreeing w me, but a lot disagreeing too...

Although ultimately @SyracuseAirport did take the tweet down.

(That said, if the social guy from the Airport is a member here - this wasn't about the tweet (it was actually a solid tweet) but about selling the swag there in the first place.)

I was with you on it. Absolutely embarrassing of the airport to do that. Otto & co, being there is fine. That's awesome for families with kids coming in. It's inviting for visiting fans. I love that. I want people to think and feel like this is a unique and inviting place.

Selling Clemson gear? GTFOH. Of course this isn't really a HUGE deal, but come on. Love visiting fans and be happy to give you a restaurant rec, have a beer with you, and talk about how we're all just flying around on this rock. But i hope we kick your ass up and down the field at 7

Clearly, the vendor is in it just to make a buck and doesn't care about the optics. I don't think SU or the airport management have any say in what any given store sells.

You guys are crazy. The business owner is in business to make money. Brilliant idea to push Clemson gear in the airport and make a few bucks. Whoever came up with the idea should get a raise.

I agree. I've been to road games where they were selling SU gear at their stadium. Always took it as a convenience for SU fans who might have left gear behind for whatever reason.

It is nearly impossible to get Cuse gear at any stores in North Carolina and it hasn’t really changed since joining the ACC. You can however get UNC and Duke gear at Destiny Mall and other area stores I would imagine. I get it, UNC and Duke are known nationwide, if not worldwide for their basketball programs. I would like to see SU gear to be more available in the south.

I went to Clemson years ago when AJ Long came in at QB and they were not selling any Cuse gear. It would be nice being in the ACC and all…

They do...my wife actually bought a Cuse shirt in May at the SYR airport on a clearance rack. Probably last season's stuff. It was one of those shirts with the sparkle crap on it. I think Chip wore one at the last Clemson game.

Alright then I retract my statement, you can tell I obviously not fly out of there often enough!

I figure you probably fly out of SWB more since you probably can get free parking and lodging.

BTW, most of the Cuse gear is very generic stuff...more as a convenience. I've seen it on the first floor and up past security.

i also saw an airport kiosk peddling this near the clemson gate. ...

apparently the airlines are cracking down on in flight use. tough washing the tobacco stains off the sides on the planes when they keep opening the windows to spit.

I want this win so bad. The entire country thinks we’re gonna lose this game. We win this one, on national tv, it will take the sting of the last two losses out a bit.

Charge exorbitant prices and proceeds go to SU football program.

One of your most hopeful signs can be i fully expect a 31-17 loss, and pretty much whenever I pick a key game in recent years the opposite happens...
