Serious Q. Just had a little kerfuffle on Twitter.
@SyracuseAirport tweeted a photo of one of their stores selling a bunch of Clemson gear. Basically like, "Hey did you forget your Clemson shirt? Buy one here!" I responded that it seems like a bad look and I had never seen that at a road airport before. Then Brent Axe basically was like, no it's good to be welcoming to road fans etc, and he had no problem with it.
I never said that we shouldn't be. Clemson fans are awesome. Give them high 5's (Otto is at the airport today). Invite them to tailgates. Talk football over a beer with them. That's all awesome. No issues. But selling them Clemson gear when they land in our airport? That seems a bridge too far and one that is 100% about trying to make a few extra bucks than it is about "being hospitable". And not that it's bad to try to make some $, but let's not act like it is all about being hospitable.
Anyway, I got some folks agreeing w me, but a lot disagreeing too...
Although ultimately @SyracuseAirport
did take the tweet down.
(That said, if the social guy from the Airport is a member here - this wasn't about the tweet (it was actually a solid tweet) but about selling the swag there in the first place.)
