HC Nate Hackett fired by the Broncos

Doesn't he have a 5 year contract? I get it's the NFL but to buyout that much money after 5 games...
The owner just paid 4.5B for the team. And Walmart is going broke any time soon. Don’t think he’s worried about it especially when fans left when the game went into OT

The guy ran down the clock to set up a 64 yard field goal this season.
And he never should have called for a pass in OT on 4th and inches. Wilson made a terrible play but they never should have had to worry about it

Not sure you can have it both ways here. On one hand people were complaining he’s too conservative and the other hand too aggressive. Wilson was brought in to win a Super Bowl For 245 million. If that’s Mahomes, Allen or Brady all those guys are throwing on 4th down most likely too. Russ has been awful.

He has been awful so just another reason to run it and get a fresh set of downs

It wasn’t all hacketts fault. Wilson has been a disaster but you can’t do anything with him because of his contract. Hackett was the easiest decision. But Hackett did not look like a head coach, very surprised by that. I always thought he should have been the guy over Shaffer.

Also, I’m not so sure a big part of why he got the broncos gig is because they thought he would get Rodgers to come to Denver. Wish that would have been the case.

He’s 42, probably just got a massive payout, is a proven OC, he will be fine. Russell Wilson might be the first 200M+ contract QB to get cut next year

And with all that wal mart money they don’t care about buying Russ out

It was only a matter of time as he was totally clueless starting with his decisions in his very first game. He was beyond bad. Totally in over his head. I’m surprised he wasn’t fired sooner.

When he needed an assistant to help him manage the game clock, it was a matter of time and summed up how poorly the season was going to go. Doesn't help that the Broncos traded for a lemon in Russell Wilson and gave him all of that guaranteed money.

Deshaun Watson might beat him to it.
He’s better than Wilson, but Cleveland has to have buyers remorse and would love a way out from under Mr.Watson

Not all Hackett’s fault but mostly his fault. They have up 51 points to a Rams team that has not been very good at all, led by a QB who has been dismal at two previous stops. They also frequently look disorganized and unprepared; that falls squarely on the HC. Bye Nathan.

They have been an absolute disaster, not sure it was all Hacketts fault but their season was an utter mess.
Russ cooked Nate. Team finally imploded last night.

Russ fell off. Seattle with greatest steal in NFL history.

They stick with Brissett, they'd probably made the playoffs

Good, serves them right for signing that guy to not just a huge contract but a rarely given fully guaranteed contract. Morons

Watson missed over a year and a half. He was never going to come in and look like he didn’t miss a beat. Cleveland is not regretting anything. The contract and trade wasn’t for this year. It was for next year and the future beyond that. There is a reason Cleveland was told they were out of the running before any other teams and then immediately after that they offered a fully guaranteed contract and this year contract at base salary so he lost the least amount of money possible. It was the ONLY way he was going to Cleveland and they knew that.

Broncos can cut Wilson just as falcons traded Matt Ryan this year and ate 40 million dollars. But it’s not about paying the money. Which the new owners have a lot of. It’s the fact it affects the salary cap. If they did cut them and “Tanked” next year. They own their draft picks in 2024 and start a full blown rebuild now.
