I haven't heard that term in a minute. What is our annual percentage rate these days? Do we still track it?
Which would boost our APR
Keep in mind that the hit against the $20.5MM cap for additional scholarships is limited to $2.5 MM. With the cost of attendance at SU and the projected football roster it seems Coach Fran will be using up most of that. And if that needs to be partially offset with Title IX requirements the limit will be exhausted regardless of what basketball does. Once you hit $2.5MM, additional scholarships do not impact revenue sharing limits. Why is it hard to understand that if you use more than 13 scholarships, the tuition must come out of your NIL budget. That’s money you have to take out of the $20.5 million revenue share. Why in the world would you do that AND have to pay the players. That’s the definition of insane. For years JB NEVER used all his scholarships. Those guys aren’t going to see the floor.
Was not aware that was a requirement of the tournament. I was under the impression that the money just went to the school's preferred collective to be distributed as they see fit.Remember, anyone on next years roster will get a cut of the $1 million NIL Tournament.

That being said I do not expect to see 15 scholarship players on the roster for next season and see no reason for it. Remember it is a roster limit, not a scholarship limit so surely a walk-on or two will remain on the team. I expect 11, or possibly 12 scholarship players will be the final result with a combination of portal and foreign players filling the remaining 4-5 slots.
It’s my understanding that it all has to go to the players. Was not aware that was a requirement of the tournament. I was under the impression that the money just went to the school's preferred collective to be distributed as they see fit.
I've also heard it's paid to the collective. Not sure if there's an equal sharing requirement by the tournament or offer from the program, but I haven't heard that. I thought it just went to a collective of SU's choice and could be used as Red wants, which I would think he would use to help satisfy NIL promises made right now, which of course aren't all equal. Was not aware that was a requirement of the tournament. Is this prize money (i.e. you get more for 1st place vs 2nd place) or just participation money, where it’s equal?
The event is called the “Players Era Festival” and the inaugural tournament is over this coming Thanksgiving week. The 2024 tournament is expected to have eight teams participate before doubling to 16 teams in 2025. The event includes $1 million payouts for each school to fund its NIL initiatives, Jason Belzer, the founder of Student Athlete NIL, told syracuse.com. Belzer said the $1 million will be deposited into Orange United, SU’s preferred NIL collectiveWas not aware that was a requirement of the tournament. Everyone gets $1m for participation. I believe they wanted to pay the winner of the tournament an extra million, but that would break rules so there's an opportunity for players to make extra money for NIL activities that don't involve winning. I think they structure it so the compensation is not technically for the games but for NIL activities. Is this prize money (i.e. you get more for 1st place vs 2nd place) or just participation money, where it’s equal?
