here comes temple

Why does everyone think this is such an easy solution? The MAC has already announced its schedule. Temple is playing at Akron, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and UMass and hosting Buffalo, Kent State, Miami University and Western Michigan.

This would work out much better for SU this year. No Mizz and no Nebraska

Big East has all kinds of money to buy them out.

Then why not spend it on Boise? Plucking Boise wouldn't screw the MWC. They currently have ten teams but only play eight conference games. Not to mention that this would now make 13 BE FB teams.

The Big East has a plan. It may not be clear to everyone just yet, but eventually it will all fall into place.

I think we've learned that any sense of rationality has now gone out the window for the Big East. They're looking for any possible solutions to the fiasco occurring this year; the future if the league be d*mned, they need to get through this year intact.

If we can get out, that leaves five teams. They can all go play home-and-home series and have an 8-game schedule and everyone is full.

In Temple football ponders joining new conference, from Feb 13th, we read:

Multiple sources say the status of the Big East's interest in Temple - and Temple's interest in the Big East - hasn't changed. The Big East is scrambling to fill its football schedule for 2012 and 2013 now that West Virginia is paying its way out of the conference for $20 million and will join the Big 12 in 2012. The Big East's top option is to get Boise State to join the conference early, but the Newark Star-Ledger reported it would cost Boise $13 million to $14 million to get out of the Mountain West this year.

"Fluid is the best word," said one source involved in the Big East discussions that have included interest in Temple. "If anybody tells you they know exactly what's going to happen, they're lying."

Bradshaw did not respond to an interview request on Sunday.

Big East sources said that if the league expands beyond 12 football schools - or if there are additional defections, such as Louisville's moving to the Big 12 - then Temple would be a primary candidate.

Having both Boise & Temple join this fall would be ideal as it would fill the TCU & WVU void. This would cause a somewhat ugly ripple effect, however, as many schools would have to buy-out several recently scheduled FCS games.

Temple joining fills one slot, plus SU can pick one of the games they have to drop. Volunteer to play at Buffalo.
Syracuse needs to schedule an FBS opponent to play in the Dome. Playing @Temple (filling the @WVU slot) and playing @Buffalo does not solve that need.

and unless the MAC let them keep two of those eight games, they would have to find two more games to get to 12 (6 BE games + 4 OOC (Nova, MD, PSU and Army)). MAC format for 2012 is you play everyone else in your division and then 2 guys from the other division.

WRONG. Temple leaving would result in 13 teams in the MAC.

Temple was supposed to play Buffalo in Philly, weren't they? I would think UB would be willing to play us instead, especially if we were willing to sign a home and home contract with them for down the road.

Nova's veto power wilted when wvu bolted putting other fb schools in a lurch. Uconn just had their coach p replacement plan blown to smithereens. Addazio no longer needs to leave to get into the big east.

I was responding to a post which stated "Volunteer to play at Buffalo".

Buffalo played at Temple in 2011. One would expect that 2012 would have Temple playing at Buffalo.
