Here is what to look for...

These kinds of guys are still out there. You don't know if there is any interest on their part, but here are some examples. I think all these guys remain available and are in the portal.

College Power Forwards / Centers as 4/5 depth piece:

Julis Marble - Texas A&M - one year left

Tyzhaun Claude - Georgia Tech looks like he is a grad transfer

Kyrese Mullen - Hampton

Alex Holt - Mercer - Junior

Alex Sobel - Sacred Heart

Jeff Woodward - Colgate
Yup.

It wouldn't shock me if one of these also-rans without a date to the prom wind up our 11th man

I'd take Woodward over McLeod.
same

he's played well vs cuse too

hasnt scored much but he has 19 boards 17 assists(!) in 69 minutes of play vs the Orange the last 3 years (with 2 colgate victories included)

i doubt mcleod will have 17 assists in his career

And you know, a guy with a year or two of eligibility left who has already played a couple years in college and has averaged 8 and 5 is just about right for the role.

I’ve never claimed I know it all. To the contrary, I never said because I watched a couple of internet clips that I knew everything there was to know about a player, like some have. All I said is that I believe I’d trust the evaluation of coaches, assistants, and recruiting specialists who have watched guys for a year or longer over guys who watched a couple of internet clips. If that somehow makes me a know it all, so be it.

Just an FYI, there are a sizable group of people who post here who have spent years at shoe camps in the summer, before EYBL kind of took over, who are very familiar with the way players get rated by experts, what those experts look for. A lot of people on this board have spoken with AAU and college coaches (head coaches and assistants) at these events. A bunch of people on this board have been members of the press at the events. Not just a bunch of opinionated dopes. There are things you look for in players. It's not top secret.

I’m sure that’s true, and have no problem with that. But when someone posts something that runs contrary to the evaluations of the experts and coaches, and says they see all you need to know from a one minute internet clip I don’t agree.

Nonsense -- nothing being said runs "contrary to the evaluations of the experts and coaches." The assessments are only contrary to your opinion about what the coaches think, and what their assessment is.

This forum has posters who've been players -- some at the collegiate level. Some are even [or have been] coaches. Anyone who posts here long enough will begin to figure out who those posters are, and which ones to pay attention to. A couple of posters have been sports journalists. Others have written articles where they've evaluated recruits in the past. When a critical mass of them take a look at a player and draw similar [not identical] conclusions that are in the same ball park, and you disagree, maybe it's your own eye test that's off kilter.

The one minute internet clip hot take is bunk.
