We're gonna lose in the tournament because JB is gonna ride it out with scoop in tight games and triche is gonna sit, and scoop is gonna try an alley oop to melo with 10 seconds left down 1 that doesnt have a chance. I cringed every time scoop had the ball and tried to make a play in crunch time. Yes he got the assist on the winning 3 by KJ, but he was EXTREMELY shaky. Truly baffling why triche wasnt out there. Dion has to be out there even if hes off, nobody else has his ability to get to the rim and draw a foul, like he did in ot. JB cant be stubborn with scoop, we cant afford to have bad scoop in crunch time, its gonna cost us big time

I am a long time Scoop basher but he has been fantastic this year. He has had a few moments where he has pressed his shot too often but for the most part has played the pass the best. I really have no complaints for the guy. He seems to be playing more within his game than previous years.

I'm a big Scoop supporter but tonight he was a bigger help to Gtown in the last 10min than he was to SU IMO>

Nothing is ever black and white with Scoop. He had some nice draw and dish moves but had at least three brutal TOs that I can remember and a couple of other very shaky passes that were near turnovers but were fumbled by the Hoyas. Scoop has improved in many ways and doesn't jack up so many crazy shots like he did last year but to me Triche is better in nearly every phase of the game.

Scoop missed a couple wide open jumpers. Made a couple of awful passes for turnovers. Maybe a couple more awful passes that we got lucky werent turnovers.

Im not a scoop basher, dude bleeds orange. Im not even bashing scoop, im bashing jb. THought he coached an awful last 5 minutes. Between stall ball and playing scoop when its obvious its bad scoop, i guess we're lucky we even made it to ot.

We wont win a close game in the tournament with scoop playing like that in crunch time, im praying jb realizes that.

don't forget the horrible plays coming out of TO's, par for the course with JB but

bad plays coming out of timeouts? How did this guy ever win 800 games?

What is Triche going to do to make the offense more efficient? At that point you're pretty much relying on Dion creating off the dribble. Do you see that happening with the way he was playing? Otherwise, you just end up with a spot up three point shooter that doesn't shoot threes all that well.

If you want to argue that Dion should have come out for Triche, or maybe that there should have been more substitutions in general - I get that tonight. When BT gets hot he's dangerous offensively. However, the offense gets stagnant with Scoop in the game at times, without him penetrating it's hope and pray that we're hitting threes because everyone is a statue all too often of late. Dion isn't driving nearly as often as he used to.

Not sure if that's because the defenses are better, or if he's just decided to settle for jump shots. Either way, BT isn't a creator in the half court. We would be playing perpetual stall ball.

That being said, I would have given BT and MCW minutes tonight. Not sure why we never subbed out. I just don't know that benching Scoop and giving him the treatment BT got tonight is going to improve things.

No, if we lose in the tournament it will be because of second chance points and our inability to hit threes. Book it.

This 200%, as I watched the last 4 min with scoop trying to create I kept thinking who is he supposed to pass to? Dion kept hanging out past the three point line waiting for god knows what, KJ was somewhat active but besides those two what is he supposed to do when hes forced to stall the ball until theres 6 seconds? Melo cant do anything at that point and Fair couldnt hit a jumper all day today. I thought a couple times Scoop should have pulled up and shot the three hes been money on that shot the past two years.

I think you are likely to be right. The offensive rebounds we give up boggles my mind. I like your optimism with the "if" part of the sentence too.

Triche is not some offensive force that is going to take his man off the dribble and score going to the hoope or dish when help arrives for a dunk. He is more of a dependent player that is better catching and shooting. I dont really see he and scoop as being analagous

Couldn't disagree with the anti-Scoop sentiment more.

Without Scoop, IMOP, our offense runs at 75% capacity.

I think we can't afford to NOT have Good Scoop in. Can't we just sub Good Scoop for Bad Scoop?

And BTW, that ooop was close enough, I thought the miss was on Fab.

I might also note that Scoop had the game sealing steal, didn't he?

And...8 assists to 4 TO is not horrible

I clearly understood the Scoop criticism last year but not anymore. Last season, he led the team in field goal attempts and three-point attempts and that was a major factor in what became a disappointing year. I blasted him as much as anyone. But with that said, he's clearly better this year. In fact, I'll go as far as to say he's a had a very good season with the exception of his free throw shooting. Did he take and miss two jumpers in the last five minutes of the game? Yes, he did. But he also penetrated their defense the entire second half and created our only good scoring opportunities in the process. Did I think it was odd that Triche stayed out of the game for as long as he did? Yes, but the reality is we have three really good guards and sometimes one of them is going to be on the short end of the playing time stick. It's happened to both Dion and Scoop and this time it happened to Triche. Sign me up for the Scoop fan club.

Scoop question: In the first half (i believe) JB pulled him and was talking to him pleasantly on the sideline. A few minutes later he was absolutely screaming at him (he had not checked back in). It appeared that he wanted him to check in but didnt...did anyone else notice that?

I noticed the first part (where they seemed fine), and I recall people in the chat saying that JB was screaming at Scoop a little later, but I didn't see the yelling.

I'd be interested in what that was about as well...

It was definitely something caught on camera (the yelling) but not (the action that led to it). Scoop didnt seem too bothered by it.

Scoop is a better point guard in those situations. He directs traffic better and looks for his teammates. Triche generally looks to score.

You can make the case for Brandon over Dion perhaps, but in crunch time you want more of a true point guard out there. That means Scoop over Brandon.
