Well it certainly appears we all are passionate and defensive when evaluating our guards and team. First, we are #2 in country...we are on way to win the BE...we have beaten two of our most hated rivals...Pitt and GT. We have a team of good players; allbeit each with flaws.
When discussing the guards it appears that the positives for each outweights the negatives. For example, lets look at the
positives (feel free to add to)
Scoop
Creative, best passer, senior leadership, and good asst man, few TOs
Waiters
Break defender down, wow with dunks, really good defensive player, few TOs
Triche
Consistent, calming, plays within self, good 3 pt shooter, best FT shooter on team, few TOs, very good defender
Now for something I do not want anyone to miss...and it is not because it shows Triche doing very well; in fact all three of guards to well...but here is offensive efficiency as posted a few days ago by a savy poster (
not me)
The True Shooting Percentage (TS%) numbers below come from this site:

I like this metric because it factors in both 3-point shooting and free throw shooting.
Jardine
All Games: 55.3%
Big East: 49.4%
V. Top 50: 44.0%
Waiters
All Games: 56.1%
Big East: 52.9%
V. Top 50: 38.9%
Triche
All Games: 56.9%
Big East: 59.2 %
V. Top 50: 58.5%
Joseph
All Games: 56.3%
Big East: 54.9%
V. Top 50: 55.0%
Southerland
All Games: 57.3%
Big East: 45.7%
V. Top 50: 42.5%
Fair
All Games: 52.2%
Big East: 50.7%
V. Top 50: 41.6%
Overall, all six of these guys have comparable (and pretty good) TS% numbers. But if you look at how they perform in conference games and against Top 50 opponents, things look a little different.
Joseph and Triche are pretty consistent and Triche actually appears to perform best against the better opponents. Apart from a few games this year, Southerland seems to really fall off in big spots.
Surprisingly (at least to me), the efficiency of Waiters and Jardine also drops considerably against the better teams.
I’d be interested in hearing your comments…
