I think Babers is a good hire, but being a half full guy I never expected much for the first two or three years. I'm not disappointed. I did let a little optimism creep in after the Clemson game, and the way the season ended was a sizable letdown.
Injuries...I know every team has to deal with them. Depth has been a problem. When people talk about injuries they usually mention how season ending or multi game injury to key players can hurt a team with questionable depth.
There are other injuries where lack of depth can have a significant impact. I could be wrong, but watching Bennett the past few games makes me think that he (and possibly others) who didn't have totally disabling injuries, but the kind of injury where a comparable replacement might have helped. Since rest might have helped Bennett, and a couple of others?
The reason I say that...Bennett has been really effective in the first half of the past couple of games, but he seemed to lose it in the second half. If you've got nagging injuries and you still play hard there's a chance that a half time break, after the adrenaline subsides (or Toradol injection wears off), will make you more aware of the pain.
I wonder if that has something to do with his falloff in second halves later in the season? We really don't know who had nagging injuries and tried to play through them, but it might have been a factor.
