This is the first article I've seen that so clearly states that SU added scholarships to men's and women's lacrosse (and field hockey). It doesn't say how many but significant enough to total at least $2.5 million. Because of that SU could only use $18 million (instead of the full $20.5 million) on player compensation. This may be a reason football scholarships were kept at 85 instead of increasing to the allowed 105.
