How bad would ND have to take it on the chin...

If ND does not make it then that seals the deal. Undefeated regular season they don’t need a CCG.

You think? I wouldn't say any win on their schedule is any better than ND's win over a Lawrenceless Clemson and their blowout loss to Alabama looks pretty similar to how ND is losing to Clemson.
 
I do love the half hearted effort by Herby, and Fowler to play it off like Dabo hasn't called off the dogs. It was especially rich right after they throw it to some backup for one yard. It's obvious that ND will be #4, and the memo has gotten out already. I suppose I can take solace in the fact that Bama will annihilate them, and we get some money. Win/win.

Except that it was at the beginning of the season, and they have won 7 straight since. I think that's a pretty important caveat during this 2020 mayhem. It may look similar, but one is happening right now, in the championship game.

This I can get behind. TAMU should be in, but if it's not over ND, then OSU it is. But, we all know it's corrupt. Changing the rules to make sure we have Bama/Clemson/OSU in. TAMU not sexy enough like Florida would have been, so step on up Irish. Maybe they can keep the margin of defeat under 28 this time around. If Nick is feeling up to it.
 
Would ND be in if they lost their first game to a healthy Clemson?

I dunno. Two 'ACC' teams in the playoff, considering the top-heavy nature of the conference, might not sit well with the selection committee.

And, yes, I'm retreating from my prediction earlier today that ND was in...

I don't put much weight in when it happened and it shouldn't matter that it's the championship game. If Texas A&M was in the other division, they'd be losing in the championship game tonight too.

I don’t think ND will ever join a conference. I also don’t think they will ever make a 4-team CFP unless they join and win a conference. So, purgatory it is.

Most likely, but I'd venture to guess that they put up a better showing. They're a better team than they were October 3rd. I think most of us would agree on that. Will ND be much better in January than they were today? Either way, I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. I'm fine watching the manslaughterer get out coached again for all to see. I'd just rather see Mond, and TAMU put up what I think would be a better fight.

Why are you so high on A&M, mond is no better than ian book, I'd say book is the superior of the two, ND was also without 2 starters on there OL which you'd have to think plays a role. IMO no matter how you slice it bama and clemson play for the title once again.

Yeah, it's too bad Ohio State is annointed. What have they done this year? Why are we debating two teams that actually played full or near full schedules when another has played half a schedule and didn't look all that great beating the two decent teams they played.

But that's all it is, a guess. If the situation were the same in the ACC, Notre Dame would've been playing in the championship game while Clemson had to stay home instead of playing a revenge game. I'm glad it didn't work out that way because I hate the idea that Notre Dame could've been a conference champion the one year they were in a conference.

Even with the BCS in the rear view we can’t quit the “you gotta be good two years in a row” to be considered a contender
