How loud was the dome last night?

Find a YouTube of Miami 92 - huge difference in the mikes. Removing the ambient noise makes no sense - if you can’t hear then read captions. There are no announcers worth listening to anyway. The days of Keith Jackson and musberger are gone. :(

Couldn’t agree more.

Wish they’d give us options. I’d rather hear no commentators at all with mics that pick up the crowd, personally.

My voice is gone. Wife and lady beside her were plugging their ears for most of the game. So...ya, it was fing loud!
I had a group of 6 clemson fans next to me and one started to read and look over my sons shoulder to see what was on his cellphone...Creepy for sure so I went into full mode. They were rotating and debating on who was to sit next to me for the rest of the game. It was not a pleasant experience for them to say the least.Musical chairs they were playing.

The TV mics these days generally do a terrible job of conveying how loud a stadium is.
So true. I miss the old days where the TV PBP announcer literally had to scream during a big play in a loud stadium and could still barely be heard.

I see it's already been stated in this thread but it was a much more superior home experience imo in terms of generating emotion. Isn't that what it's all about as a TV viewer?

Yup. So many classic and memorable calls that sound like that. It's just a much more sterile atmosphere presented by TV now, which sucks. It makes no sense to me. I can't imagine anyone liking it better.

I remember many Cuse hoop games where they would just stop talking for like 30 seconds straight. It was awesome.

The Dome was great last night! Some big silver areas at the start of the game... when I ran for a drink refill around the end of the first ... students were still coming in... same thing at half... news spread fast and the dome kept filling! It was an awesome sight! Last time I remember it being that loud was WVU. The place was crazy... I had a lot of Clemson fans around me... many with young kids who spent the game complaining about the noise... only thing that was missing was the wave... lol but maybe that's a good thing

People started the wave in my section but it didn't go anywhere.

People need to get INTO the Dome before kick off, like they do in the "real" football schools! A screaming crowd as the players pour onto the field would be a huge lift for them - and for us. Despite the poor crowd start, once they filled in, they were into it! And the cacophony the last three minutes as we began to BELIEVE and then KNOW we were going to win - WOW.

Basketball Gary and I just stood and took it all in for 15 minutes afterwards. Texts of congrats began pouring into me, including my 81 year-old aunt in California, who said, "Did you know your team just beat the #2 team in the country?" Ha ha ha!

Sterile is the perfect way to describe it. It really sucks.

Compare it to a CBS broadcast from the Dome in 1999. Scroll to the 36:45 mark, for example...

So much better. Amazing. I’m sure last nights crowd was at least close to as loud, but you’d never be able to tell from the tv broadcast.

Also, I remember a lot of Clemson fans scoffing about the potential Dome noise before the first matchup in 2013, and then scoffing even more after they blew us out. That one was 21-0 5 minutes into the game so the crowd noise never had a chance to be a factor.

Now they know what they’re dealing with. A lot of these big school southern fans seem to take it personally when the possibility of the Dome being really loud is brought up. Nobody is talking about your tailgates or who has more people there and who can bellow the loudest. It’s really pretty simple...a stadium with a low roof reflects the sound back down. Enjoy!

I was pretty obnoxious towards a group of clemson fans in sec 327. They didn't really do anything wrong, I just didn't like them being there. Most likely due to the high vodka content of my blood, and two decades of frustration. After seeing the class Dabo displayed post game I almost feel bad. Almost.

Loudest for any football game I have been to in the dome.
Everybody doing fist bumps and high-fives with strangers all around.
Fantastic experience.
So true. Crazy loud. It's why u get season tickets and go to games... memories. You never know when something will happen that will stick with you forever. Last night was one of them. Surreal experience.

At the beginning of the game, my friend and I made a pact, that if we win, we're both calling in to work, and partying all night.
I'm enjoying watching football all day today.
Funny story: We were at the bar, and wanted to call in, but it was too loud. So I went in the bathroom where it was quiet, and thought I was alone. I did my best fake sick voice call in on my phone, only to hear laughter coming from the bathroom stalls.

Don't feel bad. Two years ago a (drunk) group of them called SU a "high school team" behind me in section 118. (Always fun when SU STH's sell out to opposing fans). But last night cleared the table. And by most accounts, CU fans are usually classy and well behaved.

Those Clemson fans should not be complaining. I know Death Valley is an open stadium, but it is definitely loud. Especially with 85,000 plus. Sissies...

The Clemson band is obnoxiously loud. I was glad they stuffed them up under the 2nd deck this year instead of being right on the field. The point being, too bad Clemson fans if you think the dome is too loud. If you can dish it out you have to be able to take it too so put your big boy pants on.

It was very loud. If we had the additional 6k, it would have been a top three loudest, imo. Best I can compare it to is the 1994 Miami game. Not as loud as Penn state or WVA from 1987. I wasn't at the 1992 Miami or 1998 VA tech game, so I can't compare those.

Awesome time though. Woke up hoarse with hurting hands. Took a friend with us who had never seen a college game. She said she wasn't a big sports fan. She had the time of her life.
