Last year was brutal as it was a learning year for our new OC and QB throw in a weak WR core and we were fortunate to do as well as we did.

This year is going to be much different. With as strong an OL that we have had in years, a stable of RB's a WR group has to be much improved, a few new weapons, and a QB that i believe will make the biggest jump that we have seen since DM's second year we are poised to light it up. I predict we average over 30 a game. Thoughts?

I went with the most points I would be happy with allowing. I was using last years FSU and Clemson games to factor in a bit of a bump in there.

D will average giving up 23 a game is a very good bet 7 points a game spread works by me

32 ppg

Return game will be dynamite

I can't see us averaging more than 25 ppg...hopefully not giving up more than 21 ppg.

I'm fairly obsessed with that question, every season.

In today's game 30+ isn't asking too much. I don't know if we get there this season, but I think we blow the doors off in 2015.

I continue to agree with your 2015 projection.

As for this year - for all the reasons we all know about, I think we will be very much improved on offense. More importantly, I think we will be relatively more improved than other conference teams. To me, the real question is how many points we will average in conference games.

Last year for all games we averaged 22.7 ppg - 11th for all ACC teams. The D saved our skins for the most part. Looking beneath the surface, we were really challenged for points.

Vs ACC - Non-ACC
Last year we tied with Wake Forest for dead last with 15.5 ppg.
Non-conference we averaged 34.2 (9th for ACC teams).

Versus FBS teams
Versus FBS teams with a winning record we averaged only 19.7 (10th for ACC teams). Versus FBS teams with a non-winning record we averaged only 21.3 (12th for ACC teams).

Versus BCS teams

Versus BCS AQ teams - 17.2 ppg (11th among ACC teams),
Versus Non-AQ teams - 52 ppg (2nd among ACC teams).

Vs Ranked - Unranked
Vs ranked teams only 8.5 ppg - dead last among ACC teams.
Vs unranked teams 25.3 pppg (1oth in ACC).

If we are going to win 8 games we will have to score more than 30 PPG. Ever the optimist, I think we will do better than 30. With Ross healthy and a second year of the new offense I am looking forward to an exciting season with Hunt throwing 15+ TD passes.

This is going to be fun.

I've had 2015 circled for a while now. I am tempted to move it up this year, but I still think we may need a few breaks here and there for us to really have a breakout this season. 2015 can wait for now.

This offense has the talent if they execute they will score a heck of a lot of points especially if a receiver is found that can spread (deep and middle) the defense out. Keep penalties, fumble/drops and make the right reads and this offense should be smooth as felt.
