how many years do we have to pretend

Not coming back to this thread.
No disagreement with a lot of this, but too depressing regarding being back in the Waiting Game...

Just like Duke and North Carolina. Granted we aren’t those programs, but don’t act like it’s not been done. Ideally we would have done what Kansas did and they ended up with Bill Self.
Bro you literally answered your own question. Of course “it’s been done”” lol

We aren’t those programs

Davis has 29 wins twice, 20 wins - a S16 and a national championship runner up.
Scheyer has 27 wins in both his years with a round of 32 exit and an elite 8 appearance

It’s been done when it makes sense. This didn’t make sense and we are seeing why.

The defense of Red is mind boggling

How much can we count on you for? Brad Stevens isn't coming to Syracuse.
Is there anyone on your radar who you think would be a good fit if Red was to be let go this year or next?

I was happy with Red’s hire and giving him a chance until he hitched his career to Chris Bell and JJ Starling. That was horrible decision making from a defensive and analytical perspective. All I can think of is that Bell is sponsored by ROC nation and basically playing for free as long as he starts. The remainder of roster decisions have been equally perplexing. Also, let’s not forget the staff being called out as incompetent by Draymond Green of all people.

I do not regret not renewing my seasons.
And why did Green say what he said? Because we haven't made his friends son a star. That is why. And that friends son, whose name is Chris Bell, will never be a star. If Brad Stevens or anyone else was coaching.

I do agree that while there was similarity between having legendary coaches leave the game, Duke and UNC had programs in much healthier position for a continuity takeover.

Honestly guys in the Big East like Shaka Smart and Sean Miller are where I’d start. Have to offer Power Conference money though.
We missed the boat. A national search after JB left while the program was still somewhat relevant was our chance to land a solid outside proven hire. We chose this route and we are essentially irrelevant unless Kiyan saves us

One, I don't think Red will be let go this year. Maybe, if season tickets are not renewed. That would get the schools attention. I don't know how much money we have to offer. I also don't know who would be available.

Kiyan isn't going to save us. And UConn was in much worse shape than we are right now when they begged their way back in to the Big East. We will turn this around.

You mean after Ollie won a National title?

I think we still have the name brand, the prime Northeast location and conference affiliation. Ironically, Fran and our football program’s success can also help from a financial and attractiveness of the overall athletic department point of view.

If people are really honest, we should have moved on from JB 5 years sooner then we did, second he should not have had a say in who was taking over. Now we have this mess, we are a shell of our former selves, and this appears to be heading to an all time sh$&ty season. Having to endure this for another two years would be a travesty. I never ever thought I’d be more excited for spring football to arrive 4 months from now then a basketball season in the month of December, yet here I am.
I used to think even with the mediocre final JB years we were still an attractive job. We're moving into "sleeping giant" territory, though I still think we have the bones of great program.

I just can't reconcile that the same Athletic Director who saw the future and saw how important it was to move on from Dino and hire Fran could sit back and watch this happen to basketball.

How much money are we burning with the Dome serving as a mausoleum? Tickets, concessions, parking. We're throwing a millions of dollars by keeping the status quo. The university can't afford it.

Duke and UNC has legends retire with a full cupboard. We had Denny Crum. There was no reason for a continuity hire.

Wait til we're bounced off the bubble of the ACC tournament in 2 months with a single digits wins count.

I'm not in panic overdramatic mode "if we don't do something right now it'll be the end of the program " sky is falling stuff

The sky is never falling, it'll be fine, but he's not gonna last

Supposedly reasonable people lie about being agnostic on a coach who needs to get fired
gotta give him time to get his guys
install his own system
uphill battle for him, have you seen the shower heads , other schools have much better water pressure
bumps in the road learning on the job
is it time yet?
no not yet
ok gotta see how the young players grow it's all about development
is it time yet?
yeah now it can be said
well sure it was an obvious mistake and the writing was on the wall the whole time
What grade would you give him for last year?

When a national program does not conduct a nationwide search for a new head coach, but hires from within, there is always room to second guess the strategy. Sometimes it works. And often times, it does not work. It is too early to draw conclusion in this instance.
