Why would he come? We don’t have that kind of scratch. We apparently can’t even afford plane ticketsI would love Shaka Smart

I get it. I just don’t see any way that we move on from Autry when Carmelo is sending his kid to play for him.I’m fine after this season. Leaders detect a problem and fix it. The honeymoon is over for a guy who never ever coached. Program is falling further down a cliff.
Go get Shaka smart or someone w the ability to build
We can have that kind of scratch if we decide to have that kind of scratch. Why would he come? We don’t have that kind of scratch. We apparently can’t even afford plane tickets
So many advocates for the continuity hire but they all failed to see that Red was a key member of the staff when the program slid. I was one of the many advocating for a National search. It’s a shame we at least didn’t see what was out there.Duke and UNC has legends retire with a full cupboard. We had Denny Crum. There was no reason for a continuity hire.
I think some people get confused about this. I for one did not advocate for anyone, but I did say Red would be the guy 3 or 4 years ago because that’s what I was told. People fought me here cause that’s not who they wanted. I don’t think a lot of people advocated for Red specifically. Posters were just communicating information others did not want to hear.So many advocates for the continuity hire but they all failed to see that Red was a key member of the staff when the program slid. 2016 Final Four was the perfect time to push him out the door.If people are really honest, we should have moved on from JB 5 years sooner then we did, second he should not have had a say in who was taking over. Now we have this mess, we are a shell of our former selves, and this appears to be heading to an all time sh$&ty season. Having to endure this for another two years would be a travesty. I never ever thought I’d be more excited for spring football to arrive 4 months from now then a basketball season in the month of December, yet here I am.
I think we will too but not sure it will be Red leading us back. Wildhack really had no choice but to give Red a chance. Lots of optics involved passing him over. That said not sure I trust Wildhack to make the next call.Kiyan isn't going to save us. And UConn was in much worse shape than we are right now when they begged their way back in to the Big East. We will turn this around.
Easy solution. Hire Alex Kline to lead the entire basketball operation.I think we will too but not sure it will be Red leading us back. Wildhack really had no choice but to give Red a chance. Lots of optics involved passing him over. That said not sure I trust Wildhack to make the next call.
Is he the one who said Carlos’s advanced metrics were great? Then hard pass. I just lived through the Chaim Bloom era as a Sox fan, I don’t need a repeat of that with SU hoops.Easy solution. Hire Alex Kline to lead the entire basketball operation.
The general theme, iirc, was about half wanted to hire in-house (GMax or Red) the other wanted a national search for a fresh directionI think some people get confused about this. Oh come on now, that's a bit harsh. There's no pretending, this is hot trash. Not bothering to watch another minute of this train wreck.
He was not. He came on board after Carlos was already picked. Is he the one who said Carlos’s advanced metrics were great? Then hard pass. I just lived through the Chaim Bloom era as a Sox fan, I don’t need a repeat of that with SU hoops.
Is isn’t good thoWhen a national program does not conduct a nationwide search for a new head coach, but hires from within, there is always room to second guess the strategy. Sometimes it works. And often times, it does not work. It is too early to draw conclusion in this instance.
Yeah that's what I thought. He was not. He came on board after Carlos was already picked.
Kline was hired after everyone on the current roster committed. Carlos committed in April and Kline was hired at the end of June.Is he the one who said Carlos’s advanced metrics were great? You think something like "timing" or "the natural chronological order of events" is going to prevent posters from assigning him blame for the current roster?Kline was hired after everyone on the current roster committed. Carlos committed in April and Kline was hired at the end of June.
We can have that kind of scratch if we decide to have that kind of scratch.
I think the timeline is slightly off.Wouldn’t Hop have been the coach?
You consult w Carmelo, get me a qualified coach, either college or NBA through your connections and pony up the buyout money, problem solved.I get it. I just don’t see any way that we move on from Autry when Carmelo is sending his kid to play for him.
We need C$rm$lo.
I don’t really remember many wanting GMac. I got killed for saying Red was going to be the guy and so did others. It was information people did not want to hear. Lesson learned. Next time I’ll keep unpopular info to myself. The general theme, iirc, was about half wanted to hire in-house (GMax or Red) the other wanted a national search for a fresh direction
Those would be two very solid options. He is one I would try to find the scratch for. He has a clear style of play that I think would translate with our fanbase. Shaka and Sean Miller would be my top two if I had to replace Red after this season.
