Hughes vs Griffin

I agree - I would rather have Eli all day on my team - but he did take some bad shots (too deep 3's too early in the shot clock). I think Eli was carrying a much heavier burden against a much better league.
Yes absolutely. Quincy was not nearly the same threat. Marek and Sidibe were quality pieces. Our starting PG was a freshman who many thought would be 4th string (!). And then Buddy. Hughes was asked to do way too much.

I don’t think Griffin is getting attention from the other teams best defender like Eli did. The one area he’s better than Hughes is rebounding.
I think he's a better shot blocker as well. Eli got many of his from being a secondary defender behind the guy he blocked.

Hughes is smooth Ag runs like he has a pit bull on his heels

He's pretty elite at rebounding for his height.

I'd say for guys 6'6" and under, only Dave Bing and Paul Harris
(now THERE are 2 names you'd never have thought you'd seen in a sentence together-
except for something like "Paul Harris is NO Dave Bing" ;) )
were better rebounders than AG is.

Griffin is averaging 7.1 boards/game.

For perspective, Stevie T's best season was 5.2.
Moten averaged just a hair under 5.

Dave Johnson's Sr year he averaged 7, 6.3 as a Jr.

I don't know -- they were / are both pretty freaking good shot blockers for being that height.
I hear you, but I don't remember Eli blocking 3 pointers like Griff did just last game. Not saying he didn't, just I don't remember them.

To me the difference right now is confidence. Hughes never got rattled. You couldn't tell if he just bounced it off his foot OB or drained a buzzer beating 3. His face never changed. Griffin seems to "have to try harder" if that make sense. Sometimes he seems a little hurried whereas Hughes was never hurried, always calm and under control. Griff certainly has his issues. But I've been saying for a while that we really shouldn't be expecting more than 16pts 7reb per game from our SF.

I’m surprised the turnover difference is only .5.
Is that for the same number of games or for Grif = 1/2 season and Hughes a whole season? Also its easier to understand a TO on a drive verses catching the ball with the right foot on the ob line trying to get a step in shot.

I sure hope AG comes back. If he’s anywhere near 2nd year Eli, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to turn heads.

Agreed. This is what the staff has to sell to him this offseason.
He needs to work on his handle and playmaking, like Eli did.

With him, Kadary, and Benny as the core (I'm purposely not mentioning the coach's 2 sons), that could be a killer lineup, and he'd be able to shine.

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics

The averages might be similar, but there is something to be said for standard deviation.

Is this a real debate? I like alan but its not close who the better player is.
