Hunt > Nassib

Too soon if you're comparing senior year Nassib vs soph Hunt.

But soph to soph? Emphatically. Higher upside, running ability.

Not sure about upside either. Nassibs upside became pretty darn good as a senior. Even soph to soph Nassib had better QB stats except the running. Better QB rating, better yds per attempt, far better TD to Int ratio etc. Hunt can run some so that helps him. We'll be gaga if his upside gets him to Nassibs senior year.

Realistically, the euphoria over Terrel's upside is a direct result of his performance in the last two games. His performance in conference games previous to the BC game wasn't...let's say... very good.

I would take Hunt as a sophomore over Nassib as a sophomore. Every single day.

Take out senior year, it's clearly affecting your deductive reasoning.

Also, you are wrong on the rating part. Total QBR according to ESPN for Hunt this year was 62.2, ranking him 56th out of 127. Not tremendous but far from bad for a first-year starter.

Nassib in 2010 had a QBR of 32.4, good for 106 out of 121.

You are diminishing the running. Hunt ran for 500 yards (?!) and 7 TDs. That's a lot.

I think I agree.

Hunt has the better body.

Hunt is much more mobile in every sense.

Hunt has the stronger arm.

He seems to be as much a leader.

And with a new set of coaches and new system, he won seven and a bowl game.

I would go with T. Hunt as this stage.

Stronger arm? Not even close.

Btw, RN won 8 games his soph year.

6 wins over 1-A schools, same as Hunt. And I would argue Hunt played higher level 1-A teams.

I tend to agree but I'm pulling for Terrel to improve exponentially. Great kid, great story.

This is awesome in its distinct un-mooring from anything resembling reality. Bravo. Very well done joke!

I would probably take Hunt over Nassib. Nassib had the stronger arm and was more accurate than Hunt but Hunt athleticism at the position really stands out. his running ability was a big part of our overall scheme this year. the run option is what I liked about Hunt and is exactly what I didnt like with Nassib as a soph. Its a an interesting argument to tell you the truth. I can see good arguments for both. Both had great seniors around them. Both won bowl games. Nassib's o line wasnt as good though. Hunt might have ha tougher competition. Nassib has a NFL arm. I dont know if Hunt will ever be NFL material, but its not about NFL ready its about what they did as sophomore QB's.

NCAA QB ratings had Nassib at 124 (72nd) and Hunt 117 (89th). TDs to INT's were 19-8 vs 10-8. Yds per att were 6.5 to 6.0.

I did say Hunt was the better runner. Some was by design, both because he is a good runner and part because he isn't a great passer.

Comparing soph to soph, not soph to senior except to say if Hunt as a soph has better upside then it's going to be a great senior season since Nassibs upside as a soph took him pretty high as a senior.

Nassib definitely had the stronger arm, but your right about the leadership qualities. I think the seniors rallied behind Hunt more than the seniors did for Nassib. But that could just be a personality thing. Nassib didnt really show emotions as much but that was just his style.

You're right. There were times I wondered if RN would be around for his Jr and Sr years.

In Nassib's senior year, I think most on this board felt pretty good about SU's chances to move down the field for a late game TD if the situation demanded. The team, lead by Nassib, was adept at remaining calm and focused in those late game situations. This was a tremendous accomplishment by the coaches, and a great asset. I think we saw the same kind of calm demeanor by Hunt at the end of this year -- his first year as a starter. The BC game...the bowl game...that's nuts to get that kind of controlled leadership from a sophomore QB. Note: Not saying Hunt is better than Nassib. But I am very impressed with his leadership abilities.

Not showing too much emotion up or down is almost the definition of successful leadership demeanor.

Thats a good point. But dont forget arguably the biggest game of the resurrection era. The confidence all started with the game winning drive in this game. 2010 South Florida. Have to give Nassib his props for that too.

Certainly glad you are not a coach.

First-year starter with 0 D-1 reps entering the year from an underdeveloped area for high school football who probably did not receive the best coaching growing up.

He improved throughout the year and was the quarterback of a team with clear issues and a brand new coaching staff and earned 7 wins, including a bowl win over a major conference opponent.

And he has two years left to improve, starting with spring practice, and is getting some legit weapons with major offer lists coming in to help.

Yeah, let's move him to SS. That seems totally logical.

Id still take nassib. Until hunt shows me he can throw it down the field with success.

How many deep balls did Nassib hit as a sophomore?

Watch the tape and get back to me.

FWIW, I never got the sense that Marrone was recruiting QBs to replace Nassib. He was recruiting QBs to come after Nassib.

With Hunt though, it's pretty clear that the staff from day one has been trying to find an alternative to Hunt. It could be a system thing. It could also mean they think they can get more out of the position. I think either way that means something though.

I'm a big Nassib fan to say the least. With that said,I have them pretty close to even right now. Hunt has given me high hopes for the next couple years. You could actually see him get better game by game, which bodes very well for us next year. Imagine if Hunt had Sales,Lemon,Provo at his disposal in the Texas Bowl? Not to mention our Rb's! Well, with the talent that's going to be up on the hill,we may just get to see it! Hunt will have to work on touch, and the long ball, but he's a better runner and probably as good a leader. I'm pumped for next year already!

I think Hunt's deep ball, overall, wasn't as bad as some seem to think. Nassib's wasn't great either. Getting WRs who can catch the ball down field will make things look a whole lot better. Can I just say how much I hate the bubble screen?!

Hunts rushing yards are huge fit us because they come from breakdowns. If he were just taking carries away from rbs I wouldn't value his yards as much. It's hard to overvalue a good scrambler
