The BC and MN games he was average at best. Average QB play over the course of the season would've won a couple more games. Average QB play is the minimum expectation.

I think there is two redshirt freshman that might have something to say to these two as well. Interesting nobody seems to be talking about these two. hunt will start, IMO but if he struggles who will be first off bench.

I don't think you can include Wilson in that discussion. How many times have we heard Shafer say he prefers dual-threat qb's. Unfortunately Wilson is no dual threat.

As for Kimble he was a Wing-T qb in HS, who knows how far along in his development he is.

I'd be shocked if Hunt is ever benched this season. Then again I don't think he will give the coaches any reason to even consider it.

Long should tone it down. The rah rah "I'm coming in to start" stuff is fine when you are being recruited, but once you set foot on campus, the talking needs to stop. I am not condoning bowing down at the feet of upper classmen (i know i didn't), but dues need to be paid. You show you are "gunning" for the top spot by working your ass off, being an enthusiastic teammate, being focused, and outperforming your teammates. If Long is doing those things, he doesnt need to say a word.

Talk is cheap. That's what Long's takeaway should be from this.

Put it in business terms. Some associate/entry level professional spends a week getting oriented at the firm, points to a shareholders office and says in his presence, and in the presence of his fellow partners and colleagues, "I'm gunning for that office!" Good chance lots of people are going to think that guys a dick.

Its gonna make him better and we all know he needs to improve in areas. Ive never been impressed with Long's film. if its based on h.s. film, I would put Alin first, Kimble, Wilson and AJ last. Ive been more impressed with AJ's words and his ability to recruit others more than his game. AJ needs to work on his throwing mechanics, stop trying to get popularity points with the press and play ball. My money is on Hunt. The dude has heart and I believe in him.

That was more my point even though I didn't word it well. I would assume there were probably others, but keep it private and discuss amongst yourself and the coaches. After all, if he he is going to be a captain and lead us he needs to keep the media out of things like this.

Long needs to realize how many hyped up QBs have come here and become TE's, Safeties or WRs. Hunt needs to realize that it's not just Long gunning for his job and he better come ready to play this year. I can think of at least one starter at QB who also became a TE.
