Hunt's advice to A.J. Long: 'Put your ego under wraps'

lol to the guys that think AJ long running his mouth is making Hunt compete for his job. AJ needs to show it on the field not the media. Yes we all want Hunt to be pushed. Its gonna make him better and we all know he needs to improve in areas. Ive never been impressed with Long's film. if its based on h.s. film, I would put Alin first, Kimble, Wilson and AJ last. Ive been more impressed with AJ's words and his ability to recruit others more than his game. AJ needs to work on his throwing mechanics, stop trying to get popularity points with the press and play ball. My money is on Hunt. The dude has heart and I believe in him.
Agreed, I went and took a look at him this year in person. I was planning to post a report on here but I wasn't impressed and thought it would do more harm than good. I'm glad he's coming to Cuse but he's not the 4 star talent that ESPN initially had him pegged out to be.

Long needs to realize how many hyped up QBs have come here and become TE's, Safeties or WRs. Hunt needs to realize that it's not just Long gunning for his job and he better come ready to play this year. I can think of at least one starter at QB who also became a TE. Everyone needs to and get to work. I wanna kick ND's ass come Sept.

Hunt says that he ruffled other players feathers as well; how come we don't hear or see any of those players comments. How do we know that other players are actually upset, because Hunt says so? Make me wonder if he ruffled Hunt's feathers and he decided to say that he pissed off several players. Makes you wonder. This is the same thing as someone saying, "they told me I had to do it", who is they?

Hunt is obviously trying to establish a leadership role so I can understand him speaking up for others. I do agree it's probably best to keep it out of the media, but it's not like he came forward with the story, he was obviously asked about it.

C'mon...

18 of 28 / 64.3 cmp% / 159 yds / 1 td / 0 int / 123.8 qbr / 8 rsh / 13 yds / 0 td - Pitt
29 of 43 / 67.4 cmp% / 270 yds / 2 td / 1 int / 130.9 qbr / 17 rsh / 90 yds / 1 td - Boston College
19 of 29 / 65.5 cmp% / 188 yds / 0 td / 0 int / 120.0 qbr / 15 rsh / 74 yds / 2 td - Minnesota

Those are his stat lines for the final three games. All of those teams played in the postseason and finished with winning records.

And with those 3 finishing games he ended up with the #101 QB Rating of all qualified D-IA FBS quarterbacks for the 2013 file. I'll stay in the wait and see mode with Mr. Hunt in 2014 as there was much to be desired with his on-field performance last year. As I support the team as a whole I certainly want him to improve as it helps the team moving forward. I just don't get the "franchise" label some posters are putting on him like he can't possibly be dethroned.

His adjusted QBR was much better and ahead of a lot of bigger name QBs. Adjusted QBR takes running into the equation. QBR is misleading when judging a position that has become a dual threat position.

I posted this a few weeks ago but basketball was still going strong, so here it is again. Hunt finished the season with an adjusted QBR of 61.5. This was ahead of quarterbacks such as Tom Savage, CJ Brown, Christian Hackenburg, Logan Thomas and John O'Korn.

Long needs to learn what needs to be said to the media. He should hope to start, but no need to make comments like that publically.

I remember before Jonny Flynn's freshman year he was talking about how we already had a good PG who he could learn from in Josh Wright.

Was that true? Not really. Josh didn't do very well here, and I'm sure Jonny wanted to start and probably knew he would. But he gave Wright respect in the media, and I'm sure came off much better to his future teammates.

I just love the competition and competitiveness of the players involved. Also love that HCSS will not play favorites. He will play who he truly thinks will help the team. No I am not going there... ;)

None of those names are really impressive. Thomas is good, but was never amazing at VT, and Hack is a freshman.

Yea, except they all had better receiving corps.

I just can't wait to see the team in the spring game. I'll get my small sample study but talk is cheap and easy so let's see what Mr. Long has. I ain't sleeping on Wilson or Kimble either...I like this competition qb thing a lot as long as the team doesn't get into any kind of division about it. One thing I always found about Kinder in the spring game, he always seemed to be running for his life because it was with the 2nd/3r/4th string guys. It was tougher to get a read but you could still see enough to get a decent picture.

As for the "talk" out of Long...as long as he puts his actions into it and is studying, practicing hard and working on what the coaches say to work on I'm fine with a little foolish drama.

Now for an interview where Wilson speaks about Hunt... and Provo, Cooper and Moore.
According to this he is getting the majority of the #2 reps and is working on being a dual threat QB.

Recruiting rankings put AJ's height at 6'2" but the article says 5'11". I know people lie but that's a HUGE difference.
