The problem with hiring a guy like Hurley is you get the histrionics and narcissism immediately, and have to hope for championships to follow eventually. It’s a big gamble - it worked out for UConn…but it usually doesn’t work out.
I’m hoping whoever Syracuse hires after Red isn’t a behavioral embarrassment…I’m not a UConn fan who will tolerate that nonsense in the hopes a championship will come. Based on my interactions with UConn fans at the Big East tourney and football games over the years - Hurley is roughly the behavioral average for that collection of barbarians. That may explain why they tolerate Hurley.

It’s college basketball. There aren’t a lot of guarantees when it comes to winning titles. But give yourself the best young players and it’s a hell of a good start. Not to mention they’ve literally just won 2 straight. UK and Duke have largely been alright I’d say, and both are still playing.

The way he acts is who he is. It's fine, he has brought a couple of championships to UConn, most of us would sell our souls as well. But, to say they don't like how he acts means you don't like who he is. He is a piece of crap. The guy is a horrible person. But, it's okay because they won a couple championships.

If you listened to his post game presser, he kind of threw his own guys under the bus by saying that the offense ran well and gave them a lot of great looks but they just couldn’t make the shots. It will be a great day when our program is back where it belongs and we beat up on this clown.

As a Gen X guy I cannot read the last sentence in any other way than deeply cynical…although I’m not 100% sure that’s how it’s intended.

I kind of doubt it. Not a single player on that team is from Connecticut or was alive when the Whalers existed and assistant coach Tom Moore is probably the only one to ever live in CT while the Whalers existed.

Maybe they got the stupid away jerseys that say “Canes” on the front and were understandably irritated. Those suck, while the red alternate jersey is awesome.

I suspect that everyone will be fine with (tolerate) Hurley's antics as long as he continues to win and win big.
If that stops, I would not be surprised to see him end up like Knight.

If that ayyy-hole Hurley wanted the last image of him to be emotionally walking off the court arm-in-arm with his seniors, that should have been the last thing he did, instead of acting like a dee-bag and disrupting another team that was about to play with his baby act.

I was always a “winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing” kind of guy. But then I look at what a disgusting uncivilized clownshow UConn is and I’m glad Syracuse hasn’t prostituted themselves to win championships like UConn has.
Winning isn’t everything - UConn proves that.
That has to be much more than his rant leaving the court.
