I BELIEVE! (Book of Mormon)

Okay, friends, many of you are familiar with the hilarious Broadway musical, "Book of Mormon." There is one song in the show that is all about one of the character's beliefs. He knows some of them are crazy, but he believes them anyway with (almost) all his heart. It is a fantastic song and well worth the 5 minutes it takes to watch it. It will make you laugh and your day will be brighter!



So, I thought this song could certainly apply to us Orange fans. I mean, come on! We are all hopeless and paranoid and delusional and so inordinately proud of our teams at any given moment. So here is my tribute:


I BELIEVE

I believe - - that the Orange are divinely guided
I believe that Battle will return next year.
And I believe we just might end up in San Antonio!!!
I am an Orange fan, and Orange fans just believe.

You cannot just believe part way
You have to believe in it all
My problem is doubting the Boeheim
On each and every call.

I can't allow myself to have any doubt
I must believe in our players' Zen
Let them show the world what the Orange is about
And bust those brackets open again!

I believe that Boeheim has secret powers
I believe he will coach til he's 85.
And I believe that Doug Gottlieb is going
Straight to Hell!
I am an Orange fan
And dang it! An Orange fan just . . . believes!

I know I must support my team in every way I can
Not one doubtful word shall I speak.
I will drink and eat and wear the Orange
And the best lucky charm of all:
My Orange undies will stay on for three weeks!!

I believe that the NCAA is Satan
I believe they try to screw us every year
And I believe we can use Orange voodoo to shrink their testicles
Let them hate the Orangemen
We Orange fans still believe!

And now we can feel the excitement
This is the moment we were born to do.
We are called to gather in Dayton and we'll cheer our Orange team through
To the Sweet Sixteen we'll will our team
Of this we can have no doubt.
It will go against all common sense
But let the Orange Madness come out!!

I believe that Dolezaj will find his courage
I believe that Battle will find his heart
And I believe that Chukwu will catch every basketball and dunk it!

If we believe, divine Orange will reveal it
And you'll know it's all true, you'll just feel it
We can all be Orange fans
And, by gosh, an Orange fan just believes!

I woke up for my nightly visit to the throne, and the song was in my head. I tried to go back to sleep and finally realized it was a song begging to be written. So I started around 6 a.m. I felt such surprising joy when our name was called, and watching the euphoric reactions of the players, I just wanted to express that joy and optimism against all odds.

Also wanted to stick it to Gottlieb.
