I can't stand Syracuse fans, Boeheim is right

Yup. Only five other programs even play in a venue big enough to support a crowd that large .

It would be interesting to see where Syracuse would rank nationally in attendance with "all things being equal" from a capacity standpoint throughout the country. Syracuse's attendance ranking is clearly causally related to the fact that it plays its home games in a football stadium, no other college team that I'm aware of does. I'm not implying that Syracuse with its excellent fan base & following wouldn't still be 'up there' but it's unlikely it would rank year in and year out in the top 1-2.

Interesting. Percent capacity.

I look forward to you reporting back to us on your research. Later today okay?

with 'all things beng equal', then you have to also take into account metropolitan size, school size, state or private, and weather.

You left out the rest of my quote; "from a capacity standpoint." Therefore, the intention of the phrase used was meant specifically/strictly to that, seating capacity, and not the other variables you've mentioned. Of course, your angle isn't incorrect, however, I do not believe that comes into play when the NCAA or other statistical entities determine/crown attendance records. To my knowledge, it's purely related to solely that one data point.

ND was a thoroughly entertaining game. Let me tell you something though- we have the worst fans in college basketball, hands down. A bunch of lazy, boring, unenthusiastic people who are just there killing time. This was a game that had countless pivotal moments where you'd expect the crowd to stand up and raise the decibels to max levels and fire up our guys on defense, but nope.

I was in section 110 Saturday. I stood up multiple times, waving my arms upward while yelling STAND UP, GET UP, but nothing. People sitting on their hands like zombies. Big shot after big shot, long Girard three, a dunk here, dunk there, and we needed to fire up our guys on defense, but nobody was on board with me. Their cheering lasts like 10 seconds, then they rush to get their asses back down in the seat. I don't understand why these ppl go to the games to act like they're at church. I'm tired of it. Sad.
I was in my usual seats in 210 and I and the people around me were up and loud as they usually are.

It’s not reasonable to expect all fans to go bonkers and be loud and crazy. People have anxiety, depression and other things holding them back.

Nicely done. Kind of speaks to not needing to have the biggest facility. Nor do you need to field a great team to pack the spot (hello Nebraska and Arkansas).

Thanks!

Plenty of empty seats at many CBB hotbeds. Maybe there's a ceiling on just how many fans are willing to show up no matter who you are.

you offered that attendance should be looked at by capacity and I offered it should be looked at with other things included. imo, there is no place on a par with Syracuse.

i'd bet none of them would ever get 30k+ if they played in a football stadium. maybe a special game here or there.

That's because this % Capacity really only works as a metric for comparison if you are comparing apples and apples. I think that's your point.

The last 2000 sets at UNC are much better places to watch a game than the last 5000 upper deck seats at the Dome. What SU lead the world in is selling tickets to quite bad seats in a world of 58"+ HDTVs.

It will be very interesting to see how the new scoreboard helps to rectify the "bad seats" vibe. If any. I just hope the first immediate reaction isn't 'why is it so small?'

You don't think Kansas or Kentucky would pack in 30K? I disagree.

And doesn't Syracuse only do it "a special game here or there" as it is?

They are averaging about 2 per year over the last 10 years.

My biggest gripe with Syracuse fans?

I’ve never ever ever met or been part of a fan base that is so eager to come up with excuse after excuse after excuse for mediocrity. So willing to just deal with underperformance. And so full of fans who literally get angry when other fans demand more. I swear being a Boston fan and a Syracuse fan...I feel like I am in a different planet in these fan bases. It’s like being a sports fan in North Korea Except the propaganda is coming from the people and not the media.

obviously I don’t mean the entirety. But WAAAAY too many and if not a majority, damn close.

That's lunacy.

I don't think you quite understand the meaning of mediocrity.

me·di·oc·ri·ty | \ ˌmē-dē-ˈä-krə-tē \
plural mediocrities
Definition of mediocrity
1a: the quality or state of being mediocre
Sentence: Syracuse’s position over the course of its ACC tenure has generally been in the middle of the conference, which demonstrates mediocrity.

Had no idea that Nebraska bball draws like that.
