Chris McCullogh is one and done. Legit jump shot, freak athlete. Gonna be a player if he can get a killer instinct.

It's what we expected given that we are recruiting Bryant really hard for that last scholarship that isn't actually available right now.

Bryant #FTW!

I guess I'll pose this question here. Assuming the staff was planning on the guy leaving be CM, which scenario benefits us more for 2015? CM blowing up and leaving and we bring in Bryant (for a year we are expected to be exceptionally good) or CM being good to great but not a 1 and done, and the scholarship never opens up to bring in Bryant in 2015?

I think that if Bryant signs they will make room for him somehow. Someone might get a hint that they will never see any playing time and be encouraged to transfer. ie - "You're a great fit for Eastern Michigan and my boy Rob Murphy"

what happens if we lose scholarships?

Given that the NCAA typically likes to spread out scholarship sanctions over a few years, and that I don't expect we'll lose more than 1 per year, the impact will depend on when they start imposing the punishment (if there even is a punishment).

If we start losing scholarships in 2016, we're probably fine because our team is young now and the 2015 class is so big. If we start losing scholarships for 2015, we'll miss out on Bryant which will hurt quite a bit. If we lose more than one scholarship for 2015, the NCAA is a bunch of dirty, dirty, cheating crooks.

This is part of what I fear the most. [1] that we might lose scholarships, or [2] that the spectre of a postseason ban might cost us Bryant and / or Battle.

I was told some scary news yesterday and I hope its not true

Let's just plan on having all our wins vacated all the way back to the 1990's, our Championship wiped from the record books, all scholarships lost for the next 5 years, a mandated change of official color from Orange to Salmon, a name change from Orange to Hoyas, and the firing of the entire coaching staff.

This way the real punishment won't seem as bad... unless that's the real punishment.

I think the point is somewhat moot in the sense that it has more to do with whether or not a kid wants to go than whether he is ready or capable. Obviously you could still run into an issue if you're cutting it that close with someone who has eligibility remaining, but I think they get to know these kids well enough during the recruiting process to have a decent idea of how quickly they'll leave given the opportunity.

I don't think it's overstating it to say that any kid with great athleticism and some modicum of hoops skill is a potential one-and-done. I never would have thought Ennis was gone, but he was. MCW literally could not shoot for two years and was rookie of the year. Grant and Fab were about as raw as it gets offensively but both were gone. Anyway, point is I'm not even sure calling someone a one-and-done is hype so much as reality these days.

They are going to force you to change your name to Rutgers.

What could be worse?
