STALL BALL UP 4 WITH 5 MINUTES LEFT IS A BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't this similar to the Butler game? Rock fight for 35 minutes, we finally look to have a little flow and get a four-point lead, and we're immediately taken out of our offense. The result: horrible out-of-sync possessions for us, a long three for the other team, and an evaporated lead.

MyMelo knows it - we'll see a frustratingly similar game on the last day of our season.

Not to nitpick but since I've seen the 5min mark referenced more than once - I'm watching the DVR now. With 5 minutes left KJo hit a 3 with lots of time on the shot clock to put us up 6. This was before the first of Clark's 2 ridiculous shots. With 3:30 left Scoop drove early in the shot clock and got it knocked out of bounds. JB then called time out and stall ball started @3:15 up 4. Just so the facts are right...

I agree though even this is too soon. Even if Fair's bobbled failed catch doesn't result in a turnover, it still would've caused a hurried bad shot with the shot clock expiring. You've at least got to start attacking with 15+ on the shot clock instead of 10.

Scores were very similar too. We were up 54-50 on butler, and 55-51 on gtown.

I hate to say it but Corduroy is right tonights games was like watching that Butler game all over again. I know a lot of people love the stall but jesus christ when were up 3-5 pts we need to run our offense. Scoops not the kind of PG you can give 5 seconds to do something with at the end of the shot clock and expect anything good to happen. Plus Fair and Melo at that point in the shot clock are pretty much useless as they cant hit an outside shot which for Fair is puzzling as he was hitting shots earlier in the year. Dion thinks hes Carmelo Anthony and is to busy taking fade away threes with zero chance of going in. Its to bad we couldnt try to get JS in the game for a couple of jumpers the guy hates to shoot anything but threes but is basically money on the mid range jumper.

except we win most almost every time he does it.

My prediction is, the last game of this season will end with Dion trying to play hero. We have the ball, down 1 to some team in the Sweet 16...Dion up top, dribbles down to 6 seconds left in the game...hoists a rainbow 3 that touches the ceiling and clanks off the side of the rim. Ballgame. You can almost feel it coming.

That's like saying it's good to miss free throws because we win almost every time we miss free throws.

We're not looking to add a degree of difficulty. We want to put ourselves in the best position to win ballgames.

Either that, or scoop throws an alley oop to melo that hits the top of the backboard.

Waste 30 seconds passing the ball around the perimeter then take a bad off balance garbage fling. No points in last 4:30 of regulation. Terrible offense. The only time that will work is when you have a Carmelo Anthony. I hate when JB does it. You'd think after all these years he'd learn from it.

You'd be pleased with that, wouldn't you?

Butler game?
This is what cost us the Manley Fieldhouse game.
He hasn't learned anything since then.

What I want to know is how do we come away with those kinds of shots directly AFTER at least one timeout during that horrid 4 min stretch?

We come up with that when the players don't do what JB tells them to do. JB told Waiters after one of his off balanced 3's to drive with the ball. He was 1 on 1 at the top of the key and was afraid to drive. He has too much ability not to drive and shoot or drive and dish when he is isolated like that.

Yeah , if JB had learned from those losses we would be undefeated since then. I definitely see the logic in this line of thinking.
