I learned to say that SU S&C is subpar/

Our s and c dept is a big reason we won 10 games a few years ago. There were freakishly few injuries. For once depth was not a huge factor in the second half of the schedule.

I thought we had improved and had a nutritionist but probably wrong if Mikel is saying this, maybe we have only 1 person while other schools have a nutrition staff?

Lean meats, veggies, and fruits, legumes (esp lentils). And a vitamin D pill and an over 50 multivitamin. At least that’s what my “nutritionist” told me. Oh and regular exercise.

If I were on the team I'd just see what Sean Tucker eats and do that.

I'd imagine steel rebar and molten lava are part of his diet though.
Nails and a side of roasted Golden Eagle

If you consider proper nutrition is part of proper strength and conditioning, then according to our own players it is subpar

I heard the same thing and went looking.

We do have a nutritionist on staff. Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like the players know this.

We need to do better.

I mentioned that previously. She is the nutritionist for the whole athletic department. He is probably desiring one dedicated to the football program.

So, here's the thing:
The staff nurtitionist has probably already vetted all the foods our players are being given.
I mean, they all likely eat a metric crapton of grilled chicken, broccoli, brown rice, etc.

Its antiquated thinking like this that will prevent us from ever winning an SEC championship.

I could solve this issue in one afternoon. Let the FB players follow me through the buffet line. Whatever I take, they shouldn’t eat. Whatever I don’t touch, should be their main diet.

But it’s so much more than this. How and when you eat things has critical impact on performance

FCS programs have dedicated nutritionists, as well as Grad students that administer proper nutrition. We don't do that. Basic tenent for most programs. It might cost $$. We cut cost. Not raise them.

And thats how we lose a lineman to a protien deficiency? I don't think so.

This was also brought up by Steve Linton’s high school coach. Does SU have a nutritionist program for students. Can we get some student interns to be dedicated to individual teams men and womens?

Food and nutrition are about 70% and liftiing and speed work are 30%. Can’t feed a race car bad gas and same with these high end athletes. Should be drinking Protein shake right after morning workout followed bye egg omelette with broccoli and cheese and fruit. 2.5 to 3 hrs later u need lean turkey burgers or grass fed beef low fat. 2.5 hrs after another shake plus some fruit. Around 6 pm or so last heavy meal with chicken or fish, not farm raised fish either, broccoli or some other low inflammation veges. If ya want to be lean u can have a shake before bed and if u want good weight add another protein meal with some clean carbs like brown rice or my favorite sweat potatoes. Obviously this can vary a huge amount. Just like the s+c coaches should know each individuals weaknesses and makes them strengths, the nutritionist should know each kids good foods and bad foods and capitalize on what they and s+c coaches want each kid to do. ie gain weight in pure muscle or lean muscle or even just gain strength and stay at same weight.
