Because hope springs eternal? Then why bother bringing him in?

Ryan also threw it OOB like Allen many times as well.I don't recall Nassib ever underthrowing a deep ball. He had the opposite problem.

I can't wait to watch Drew Allen try and play against FSU. We're lucky VT isn't on the schedule this year. Their defense only gave up two touchdowns to Alabama.
Allen reminds me of the NFL version of Ryan Leaf. Million dollar arm and no football awareness
Not to try and pile on, but Allen's accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. There was several times even when completing balls he was a couple feet off on his target, not giving the receiver a shot to actually catch the ball and make a play. And those were just on completions, there were several other incomplete passes that could have been made with better accuracy. Those plays down the sidelines were a perfect example of just not being able to put the ball where he wants it.
Drew Allen just does not play fast - that's my issue.
In every respect he does not seem to play at a competition level.
He passes the look test and appears to have all the tools.
But, he is not playing ahead of his opponents - they seem to play ahead of him.
He may be a great practice player, but so far he does not seem to be game savvy.
Nassib last year had a 62.4% completion percentage, 3749 yards, 26 TDs and 10 ints. Comparing him to Allen is like comparing Cameron Dantley to Donovan McNabb.
I think everyone here wants Allen to do well. And I don't blame the coaches one bit for deflecting from him and helping to protect him. These are kids. It's a lot of pressure, and I'm sure as much as we want him to do well, Allen himself wants it 1000x more. Just the same I think anyone who views SU playing right now knows we have an issue at the position. Only the coaches know how competitive the battle is/was between Allen and Hunt. They certainly know better than I which one fits their planned offense better, and hopefully which one gives us the best chance to win.
I only hope that over the next two games -- games that I think most of us believe we should win regardless of who is under center (always a dangerous assumption) -- that the coaches and players can demonstrate more effectively which player is the choice and why.
And finally, if its dead even, it has to be Hunt.
