I want to play UConn every year

I didn't realize Syracusefan.com already settled the future of UConn basketball. What did we decide tonight's lottery numbers would be? :)

It's funny because the last time I heard people on this board talking like this they won another title.

Playing them is their Super Bowl, not ours. With the ACC, the B1G game, and the early season stuff we have a lot going on as is.

Boeheim however said something may be in the works. If it's Dome or Garden fine. Only away non conference games should be MSG, Philly, DC.

I was more psyched for this game than any other on our schedule save duke and UNC.

Yeah... because stuff said on this board had a direct correlation to that occurring. Superstitious mumbo jumbo.

Oh stop, you know you'll be more excited for our titanic P5 conference battles with Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. Just think of how much at TV revenue we're making and all that Bojangles sponsorship money! This is what real fans care about!

I am excited for the wake forest game this year already. Its on the road they are for real.
Virginia tech I just want to see Buzz on a blood pressure plan, hes a great guy.

Is there anything in sports more awkward then that minute-long promo during every football game where they show tailgating fans pretending to be excited about Bojangles chicken? They always have a look on their face like, "OK, OK, is this over? Do we have to keep cheering? This is weird."

No chance, their football program is absolute garbage

They're still fresh in our minds. Kids at SU now even are in year 3 of ACC, so for those not on the Chip plan that game is less that it was for the previous group of kids.

Gonna see GTown next week, fun because it's local but already not the same as it was.

Syracuse vs. Georgetown is the rivalry of the Big East.

Rotating UConn, Villanova, St. John's is a fair compromise. Thinking UConn should be an annual opponent is overscheduling.

We don't have room for other matchups with limited OOC slots. Texas-Texas A&M, Kansas-Missouri, Utah-BYU, Maryland-Duke, Rutgers-Seton Hall(for Pat Forde) are all gone.

We should never play a BB game in CT again unless we are in the Holiday Tournament at the Mohegan Sun.

I would like to see someone promote an Old Big East pre-season tournament in MSG over Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Go old school; SU, Georgetown, Nova, UConn, St. Johns, Providence, Seton Hall and Boston College. Only difference would be that it would be a 3 game guarantee for everyone like the rest of the pre season tournaments.

If they wanted a Gavitt Tournament at MSG fine.
One BE team from Gtown, Nova, St. John's, Seton Hall, Providence, Marquette
One ACC team from Notre Dame, Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse
One team from West Virginia, Rutgers, Cincinnati, UConn,
One wildcard P5 team

Go ahead and do that. Find mid majors to play 2 games on campuses and then semis-finals at MSG and honor Gavitt.

That's the coolest idea ever. I love it.

Nothing wrong with continuing to play UConn at MSG or something. I don't care what anyone says. They are a NAME brand continuing to recruit well. I think they always will recruit well. Syracuse and UConn battle for recruits year in and year out. AAC isn't chopped liver. I don't understand why people here are shunning 'Mid-Majors' (which UConn will never truly be, imo). I would love to play Gonzaga, Butler, Wichita State, Xavier, etc., regularly.

We play a B1G every year. We play in some early season tournament every year. We play some combo of GTown, Villanova, SJU home and hme every year. At some point we cannot play everyone. And that's before Duke, Carolina, UVa, ND, etc...

I had an absolute blast two years ago in the snow at Winston-Salem!

I get that point. I just don't believe at ALL in the take that we are 'above scheduling them' or that it wouldn't be a competitve and worthwhile move.

It would clearly be competitive.

It seems that we have less to gain by doing it considering all other factors of what our schedule already is.

SU v Georgetown or v. UConn are "Nostalgia" games.

They are money-makers because there is this lingering fan-interest in these games based on earlier periods when these games actually meant something.

They no longer really do mean anything. The fans just haven't reset their internal clocks.

All I get is a slight tinge of longing for the old Big Eat of the 1980's and 1990's. But like a gas pain, that soon disappears.

If I am Georgetown or UConn I desperately want games like this to try and stay relevant in fan's minds. In the real worlsd of 2015, they do little for SU.

I believe there may be a rule against conference mates being in the same pre-season tourney, Not 100% sure.

I think they will end up in either the Big 10 or ACC within the next decade.

Do they meet the academic standards of the BiG, which is also an academic affiliation.

Not sure if they now do, just wondering.

I'm just tired of the attributions.

They had their time, and now they've been passed over by big time collegiate athletics. They can still challenge for fringe top 25 status, but the margin widens with every passing season vis a vis revenue. They went to the NIT last year because they play in a mid-major conference--that's their new reality.

BTW, they are relying upon transfers from Cornell and Seton Hall this year. LOL.

And next year, we'll be relying on a transfer from Providence...

It is stupid to say if we ignore them they'll go away. That game felt like March...I like that feeling. Playing SJU/Nova/UConn and Georgetown might be too much in year though.

This game is made for MSG on an annual basis though.

We should offer uconn one in the dome and one in msg.

That's what I would do. No reason to go to Storrs. Do the Dome/MSG every few years.
