I want to play UConn every year

I honestly wouldn't want this game anywhere but annually, in MSG.

We should schedule it and it's not too much, especially when we see teams like MSU schedule insanely tough and beast in postseason every year.

That atmosphere sounded insane on TV and I guarantee you every player on that team would sign up to play them again in MSG next year if you asked them. That's a guaranteed showcase game every year. Could care less if it throws a lifeline to UConn

It makes ZERO sense to sacrifice a home game to do that. None.

Nova, St. John's and Georgetown are all in.prime recruiting grounds/media markets.

UCONN isn't. It would be fun to play them, but it's tough to justify in the schedule because the other tradeoffs do carry some pain.

uconn and all that. But you have to respect what coach Ollie has done taking over their program. I would like to see us play them at least every other year. Maybe alternate a MSG game between St.Johns and UConn.

Every year with the Hoya lovers would be great too.

The idea's been floated: an annual Old School Showdown.
The Orange and Pitt come into MSG or the Barclays Center Christmas week for a game each against UConn & G-town.
We'd have hoops heaven and the arena would get two sellouts.

Meanwhile...this year will be a real treat...getting to beat UConn and G-town in short order.
Just like old times.

GO ORANGE!

As much as I want to see them play at MSG I tend to agree with you.

If we never played St. John's again I'd be fine with it. THAT program is the definition of mid-major at this point, and playing them is nothing but nostalgia and a bone thrown to the NYC metro alums.

We can play in NYC every year with either early season tourneys or neutral site one-offs. I agree that playing a bunch of our old Big East brethren limits our OOC flexibility, so I'd be down with rotating G'Town, Nova and UConn through maybe each 4 times over 6 years. No need to go to Storrs or Hartford, play UConn at MSG.

I'm just not sure I understand the "we have to play away games in areas that we recruit" argument. It seems more applicable to 1980 when things were more regional and compartmentalized. With the internet and 24/7 ESPN and AAU teams traveling nationally, I don't think it makes a difference anymore.

I mean, Kentucky plays Indiana every single year. I don't think either teams care about the recruiting hotbeds that are Bloomington and Lexington. They do it because it's a matchup their fans care about.

That's what I would do. No reason to go to Storrs. Do the Dome/MSG every few years.

UConn seems about as likely to agree to that as Mexico would to build Trump's border wall for him.

If we do it, that's the way to go.

Not me. The thrill is gone.

To each their own, but I was pacing around my living room like a madman yesterday and was on Cloud Nine after we won.

Yeah, if anyone is as emotionally invested in today's game as they were yesterday please let us know.
