I think #23 on Providence is Steve Wright, a forward who played high school ball locally in Syracuse - maybe Fowler, but went to Providence. DC makes him look small and he wasn’t.

Thank you, just looked it up #23 was PC co-captain “Pop” Lewis who sadly passed away in 20181986–87 Providence Friars men's basketball team - Wikipedia

Wright wore #44.
I believe Steve Wright is the guy blocking out Rony. The photo also includes Rick Pitino and behind him, in the red tie, Jeff Van Gundy, who was an assistant on that team. And Billy Donovan, who would lead Florida to two NCs and still coaches in the NBA, is in the foreground.
Not that fella third from left. I get the sense he hasn't paid his dues.
That's pretty crazy. A lot of wins on the floor that night.I believe Steve Wright is the guy blocking out Rony. Quite a bit of basketball history in this one picture.
That’s from the final four in 87. 84-89, the big east dominated hoops then like the SEC does in football now. That's pretty crazy. A lot of wins on the floor that night.
