If I were the AD

Nobody is dropping their support. We could keep SS and I would still root for SU FB. I want to win games no matter the coach. I root for the laundry not the HC. With that said I think not giving money to a SS HC coached team is a person's prerogative. People reach boiling points. If its a waste of money I can support the University in other ways. I give a donation to the two colleges I majored in. I will increase my donation to them and not give the AD that money. My opinion is not greater than anyone's opinion. This isn't about me getting my way. I believe the only voice of displeasure is to hit them in the books. I will be in Missouri mode show me. I don't go to more than 1-2 games a year anyway thus getting rid of season tickets isn't a big deal. I will root for the laundry though. Coyle has done nothing to deserve this faith. This decision will be his first major decision. I will base my opinion on this result. This decision doesn't go on the Chancellor or BOT it goes on the AD.

Peace

And some people will only go if the team is winning and/or happy with the product. There are others who support the team through thick or thin.

You can choose to support the team and cheer them on and no longer spend money on the team. Don't have to do both. I will cheer for Syracuse every Saturday but I will not be spending money on the program until they show me they are ready to spend money and put a better product on the field.

Peace
LOL thank you but I don't think I will have to as I believe this AD isn't dumb enough to keep this HC.

I would say more but its pointless when talking with you.

You guys are both right. Bees is right that removing your $ support hampers the success you wish to see. You're right that people can and will do what they want with their $. For every diehard that stays even though they are embarrassed by the play on the field, a bunch of casual fans decide their money is better spent elsewhere.

Is there still a 15000 waiting list? There was when I lived there in the late 70s early 80s.

They tore out 15K seats. Anyone can go, if you like horrible parking, bad traffic, lack of concessions, overpriced beer, drunken fights...

Man, how times have changed.

I could understand not supporting the program near the end of coach P's tenure. For a number of reasons, fans could have felt a sense of complete hopelessness. We all know what they were and no need to rehash them all from "get a life" on. I could understand back then at that time, that fans could think the only way to make a statement and press for change, was to pull support, and possibly even boycott. Currently however, I just don't see the same hopelessness at all. There is no comparison in my mind. Not even close. The university is grounded in a P5 conference and is committed to big time college football. Facilities are being upgraded. We have a new AD who certainly is on a mission to assure success in football. I personally find it very hard not support the program. Ever. I agree that by not giving support in the worst of times, fans actually contribute to the prolonging of the come back.

Your point has merit, however, when you're nearly a four touchdown underdog in your own building past the halfway point of the 4th Q, you roll the dice in that situation, imo. Play to win, vs. playing to look respectable, and, at that moment, SS should've taken the path least travelled, vs. playing the odds. I have to imagine, punting the ball there down 10, with under 6 minutes to go against the #1 team in the land, the odds had to of been pretty high that Clemson was likely going to win anyways...so, why not take the chance. You really having nothing to lose at that point...again being a 4 TD underdog as mentioned...

I didn't realize college coaches looked at the betting line from Vegas and made decisions that way.

Good to know.

I'll presume your response is just you choosing to be passive-aggressive here.

Otherwise, if you truly believe that SS didn't know that we were huge underdogs in this game, well, then I just don't know what to say other than it clearly exposes your naivety. The highlighted is the premise of the point in which I was attempting to make.

I think the biggest thing I've taken away from this whole ordeal is that I finally, at long last, have found something that bees and I see eye to eye on.

;)

Actually it is more often than you think. I just don't tell you. :)

I felt at the end of P's tenure, people were acting tremendously boorish. We were still winning, not at an absurdly high rate. Sure, there were problems but did P ever act in a way that embarrassed the university? He seemed to conduct himself in a professional way all the time. I recall he was even in position to run some sort of committee for college head coaches. Guy was a class act.

I actually feel like people are acting proportionately right now in light of how bad we've become over the past few seasons. I think Shafer is a class act too but his best season, u could argue, is Pasqualoni's 3rd worst season ever. I just think we lose some context about P based on what happened after he left vs what happened when he was there, what challenges he had (zero facilities, an aging AD, etc).

Yeah 12-12 created a sense of complete hopelessness but 6 and 18 happy happy joy joy.
