A big question to me. If he is fired because it is proven he knew something, then the players would likely accept it as a necessary thing. However, if he is fired because of heat being applied to the university etc and he knew nothing, then the players would likely view it as unfair as many of us would. I agree with those who do not think his initial comments are a fireable offense and I highly doubt the players disagree.
If JB is fired and it is perceived by the players as unfair, what do they do? Do they band together and threaten to not play? Do they speak out? Do any players transfer? To me, a big part of the answer is if anyone else on the staff is let go as well. If Hopkins takes over, it will be a very different situation than if the whole staff is let go.
I hate to speculate on this of course. I hope the university stays with JB until the investigation is complete. Then as JB has said himself, deal with the consequences of the findings at that time.
