We’ve had some kids who we assumed would be gone to the NBA but it really hasn’t turned out that way.

At this time last year, there was at least a chance that:
-Fab would go after a year
-Kris would skip his senior year

We also thought Keita would take longer to develop than he did and there was a chance that Rak might be a one and done(which now looks unlikely)

All of that just condenses into a logjam in the frontcourt and the backcourt isn’t too much easier to crack.

I can’t blame a kid if he doesn’t come here. Immediate PT is one thing but there’s no guarantees you’ll be starting down the line either because we’ll be rolling in talent, trying to recruit over everyone in 2013 and beyond as well. Look at Mookie….still waiting for a spot that will never open up.

Doesn't Maryland already have Justin Anderson? We would have a Jr Fair in 2012 and a Senior Southerland his rookie year. Its his for the taking his sophmore year.

Look at some of the swingforwards syracuse has sent to the NBA.
Melo, Coleman, Owens, Orr, Warrick, Brown, Wes, Nichols, Greene, Wallace, Leo, Rudy Hackett, Schayes, Billy Gabor, Rafael Addison, Marty Byrnes, Fred Sanders, Frank Reddout, Eddie Miller, soon Joseph and Fair

Justin Anderson decommitted after Gary left.

MD has a really good staff now with Delonte Hill, connected to the DC AAU scene through DC Assault, and Bino Ranson, connected to the Balto AAU scene through Balto Elite. They have already signed Shaq Cleare, a center out of Texas. Unfortunately, they are going to be a force in the next few years recruiting wise with those two guys on staff.

Turgeon is really trying to dial into DC, something Gary Williams didn't really do in the twilight of his career. Turgeon's always been a good recruiter and coach, so give him credit for recognizing a need to bolster his connections to the pipeline.

Under Armour connection doesn't hurt as well. They're doing a good job building big time talent on the AAU scene. The UA connection helped them land Shaq Claire. The Harrison twins who are also high on Maryland, are UA affiliated as well.
