then you haven't been paying attention to collegiate sports for the last two decades. Jim Delaney, the AD of OSU and the former long-time commissioner of the B1G, is by far the most powerful man in NCAA history. He was single-handedly the #1 reason why there was no college playoff until this year. Only after he signed off did the playoff become a reality.

Picking between Baylor, TCU and OSU is a tough call but I think OSU was in as long as they beat Wiscy last night because of the Delaney influence. They also travel better and would bring higher ratings. It's all about money and power and nobody epitomizes that better than Delaney and the NCAA.

so the other ad's said we can't do this without Jim's approval. I think you over rate Jim just a bit.

Do a little research Dash and find out why there wasn't a playoff for all this time.

there was a lot of reasons why there wasn't a playoff. Not just one.

I can tell you're not familiar with Delaney's influence. Do a little research on it and you'll see what I mean.

I am familiar with delaney. No doubt a powerful guy. And did a great job as B1G commish. But he has never sat at the right hand of the father. He is just one man. And no one can stop the tide of history. The playoff was coming with or without him.

its pretty simple actually. Tcu had the stronger body of work of the 2 co champs but the other co champ beat them but that champ played the worst non conference schedule in America(128 of 128). So the committee couldn't rank tcu above Baylor once they finished co champs. Baylor VS Ohio State for 4 goes to Ohio State because if you put Baylor 4 your telling everyone schedule nobody and win and your in.Ohio State also won convincingly at #7 Michigan state

I stand corrected in one aspect. I said former B1G commissioner when he is still the commissioner of that league. I googled Delany's name and quickly came upon a couple of stories about his influence. He is absolutely the #1 reason why there was no playoff system until now. Not sure why he finally relented but for years he opposed it because he didn't want B1G to lose the lucrative payoff of the granddaddy of them all- the Rose Bowl. You're right that he doesn't sit at the right hand of the father. But he has a seat at the table.

And TCU beat #9 K State convincingly yesterday and didn't lose to a bad TV team. Whether Baylor could be rated higher than TCU is irrelevant, we're talking about TCU vs. OSU.

Not that simple IMO. Ohio State had a bad loss to a mediocre VaTech in Columbus. Baylor played in a much better conference than OSU and beat TCU, KState and OU among others. Who was OSU's big OOC win? Navy? TCU probably did have the best body of work of the three but they lost head to head Baylor. You can plausibly make a case for all three. But when money and power enter the equation then it's lights out for Baylor and TCU.

tcu didn't play k state yesterday they played a terrible iow state team at home

Haven't heard the latest but i know he wants to stay with the Sox but it's tough to give a guy in his 30s that kinda money for that long. But if I were to mkae an exception then he's the one.

I couldn't argue if tcu was in over Ohio State

OSU played a lousy Michigan team at Columbus and wound up in a dog fight a week ago. Are we only counting games that were played yesterday?

My bad Chris read your post too quickly.

tcu barely beat Kansas who might be worse than wake forest

yeah that was a bad outing for TCU. But a rare one for the Frogs as they were pretty solid all year long.

Ohio St. had the worst loss amongst the three contenders for the last spot. That should have disqualified the Buckeyes, but I understand that with their money, influence, and TV ratings they were getting that spot no matter what.
