If that’s the case, thank you.I'm appreciative of those who like me and my contributions to the board. But I have reached the point where I am not 'fighting'. I'm a single man with no dependents no bucket list and I am not a man of faith. What I would really like to do is to fall asleep and not wake up. It would be a release from my troubles.
Sending prayers and positive vibes. Stay strong.Goodness, I wish you all the best SWC. I know you can beat this.
I'm getting weaker. (If anyone knows a good local agency to send in a helper, I'd appreciate it.) I have this large tumor in my liver. They think both lungs may be cancerous and no they are checking for bone cancer.
And the games and the coaches show are all the same.
Creative thinking here for sure, R. Unfortunately, unlikely to be an option as Steve mentions multiple metastases and what sounds like a large primary ('large' usually indicates >5cm diameter). My guess is the docs would rule out histotripsy... although only an ultrasound would really inform whether the primary is accessible. Procedure also isn't indicated for palliative care. Again, great idea here - but likely to be off the table.Steve, my thoughts and prayers remain with you. Keep fighting.
Ask your oncologist about histotripsy. It was FDA approved in 2023 so is fairly new. I don’t believe anyone in Syracuse does it yet and the closest is the University of Rochester. It’s for liver tumors only. Yours may be too large but those requirements always change. Here’s a link to UofR. Ignore the transplant word in the title. Research it elsewhere also.

Pragmatic take, and reasonable. In my experience the patients that can reconcile with what is likely inevitable fare best mentally / emotionally as they approach their denouement. NB: for those curious: histotripsy is a non-invasive cavitation of cancerous tissue. Wrecks the tumor, leaving healthy tissue generally intact, then the immune system mops up the mess.
What is probably the way most of us want to go. Best wishes.I'm appreciative of those who like me and my contributions to the board. But I have reached the point where I am not 'fighting'.
