I'm in a show hole, need suggestions

Andor just dropped the first 3 episodes.
I watch all three last night. Poor decision by me, but good stuff. I need to go back and watch the first season again while waiting for the rest of season 2 to come out

finished season 3 YELLOWJACKETS. this has to be the conclusion. it all circles around to the opening sequence and the pit. satisfied with the ending. some came back more twisted than others.

It wants you watch Season 4. It will be upset if you stop now.

Here is a good season 1 recap in about 14 minutes!

I really liked season one. Rewatched in time to be ready for season two. But I am not enjoying s2 after the first two episodes.

I liked the opening of S201—fun/exciting direction and production in that action sequence. Particularly liked the cgi and the aesthetics of some of those ‘targeting reticles.’ Beautiful. And then, downhill. That whole situation in the second episode seemed totally pointless and dumb. I’m sure it will come back around to have had some relevance later, but—

Really love The Rehearsal. Forgot how much I enjoyed season 1 because it had been so long.

Anyone watching MobLand? [Paramount, I think.]

It‘s not great, but it’s decent. Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Paddy Constantine. Guy Ritchie is an exec producer and directs some of them. It’s got some of the typical Guy Ritchie mobster vibe, but without any of the humor or the stylistic flourishes.

Yeah. Enjoying it. A few twists, here and there.

Ugh, but I love Guy Ritchie's humor and stylistic flourishes.

If you like the sports shows...
We are hooked on F1 Drive to Survive. That formula for a show seems to work regardless of sport. Because we have no interest in F1 but cant stop watching that show. So we moved on to POLO, and now Race For The Crown. Both are fantastic.

Drive to Survive was really good. The last season or two, though—not so much. It's not just the lack of actual on-track competition, but that the lack of competition forced the producers and editors to focus more on too much of the BS backstory stuff. Even the commentators like Claire Williams seems like she's being guided into a Real Housewives-type dialog.

But, yeah, if you like that and the sport doesn't matter, the tennis show is decent, too. Break Point.

For baseball, the story of the RedSox in two different shows—really good: The Comeback, about the drive to finally overcome the Yankees and kill the "jinx," and then The Clubhouse, the documentary about their 2024 season.

The Steph Curry documentary—Underrated—on AppleTV is really good, and i tend not to want to watch basketball docs.

For football: Quarterback on Netflix, some really good insight into that world. Made me a fan of Kirk Cousins.

There's a Nascar version as well. 2nd season comes out on Wed. I like it enough.

I've been meaning to give the nascar version a shot. Loved drive to survive, turned me into a full fledged F1 addict.

Haven't paid attention to Nascar since Ward Burton was running, but jumped on the nascar board this year at the VFW back home. Went to Watkins last year for the first time in a while, had a blast. Will be back this year for sure

Two new series:

Long Bright River (Max). Amanda Seyfried as a Philadelphia* cop. Not bad after just one episode. A little trope-y. Good atmosphere. A little difficult to buy her as a cop, just because of the physicality.

The Four Seasons (Netflix). Based on the Alan Alda film. A Tina Fey project. Her with Will Forte, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, and Kerry Kinney (remember her from Reno 911?). Has some nice dialogue moments as you would expect from Tina Fey. It’s an easy binge, though I did get hung in the middle of episode 5(?) as I tend to get ‘cheesed off’ when I get overwhelmed by too many relationship squabbles.

Interesting how there have been a spate of Philly/eastern PA shows of late. This one, Mare of EastTown, Dope Thief, and the last Colman Domingo show, The Madness. Just coincidence, or is PA offering tax break incentives? [Edit: yeah, looks like the latter.]

Went to The Glen basically every August from the age of 8 to moving away 20 years later. Was my favorite weekend of the year. Go up Friday and camp with friends, tough to have more fun than that in your 20s. Especially with NASCAR allowing you to bring your own cooler to your seats.

about 3/4 thru netflix RESIDENCE . a murder at the white house. suzanne/crazy eyes from Orange is the New Black . still not sure WHODUNNIT. it's entertaining .
makes you pay attention to the smallest details scooby.

The rugby show on Netflix follows the same formula and is also very good IMO as someone that knows nearly nothing about rugby.

Same company also produced an MLS documentary over on Apple TV; that was pretty good as well.

The Four Seasons. It thought it was going to be a lot better.

It’s a lot grittier.

Back to Andor:

Is anyone really liking it? I thought season one was really good. Smart-ish and exciting. This season... Uggh.

I don't know why they've made certain choices. In a galactic war between good and evil, we're dealing with the smother of a protocol dweeb? Then there's the oddness of having a parallel to Israel, with language and characterizations that make it obvious, though kinda ridiculous as a carryover from a long time ago in a galaxy far away. Then the white wedding and the trance dance thing... Then the atmospheric stuff—the steampunk technologies, for example. I was mixxy last season on the use of a Polaroid Land Camera but now i just think some of the tech in the production design is lazy. People plugging in quarter-inch audio jacks, for instance... And radio frequency tuning... It's now less sci-fi and more City of Lost Children (which i loved, but this shouldn't be that).

Part of the fault is mine—i just don't find any of the storyline(s) to be interesting enough to even pay attention to. Most of the dialog just washes over me and i am not following along. Last season, the dialog was quite good. Now, it's just seems like a lot of trivialities. Still haven't mentioned the Bix incident, and how she has been sidelined and meaningless. Just another constant female victim. I'm expecting that to turn around, but what a waste so far.

It's worth watching but hardly the masterpiece that the first season was.

I enjoyed Andor, but agree that it's not as good as season 1. Followed it up wih Rogue One which was a great stand alone prequel, but not as good as a sequel.
