I'm in a show hole, need suggestions

Anyone watching Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne? I’m only on episode two of season one. It seems to have a Breaking Bad aesthetic and tone at times.

There’s a new season of the Ewan Mcgrefor show where he and a friend ride motorcycles around the world. A Long Way Home.

Just tried 30 minutes of Murderbot. Not sure how they got that made,,,, Someone let me know if I have reacted/given up too quickly.

Neighbors and Friends is still… just under ‘okay.’

I think I’m in the middle of season one of Top of the Lake. Elizabeth Moss. I think it’s a Jane Campion thing, so it’s kinda dark. Interesting. It’s in English, but Aussie/New Zealandish, and sometimes the dialog gets unclear, but for whatever reason I can’t access English subtitles/CC.

Tried Top of the Lake years ago. Seemed like it had possibilities. The literal darkness of the cinematography bothered my wife so we dropped it

I am on episode 3 of Poker Face season 2 now. Some of the interjections of the char into the plot after you see the actual story at the start are pretty creative and fun.

I really enjoy Poker Face.

So I have a free month of Apple TV starting today. I want to watch the second season of Shrinking. It sounds like Your Friends and Neighbors is a possibility, but not really a must see. I've seen all of Ted Lasso and Lincoln.

Any other must sees that I missed in this thread?

I love Slow Horses and Severance. Friends and Neighbors is fine, I'm watching it when bored and it's ok. Pachinko and Silo are on my list to watch at some point but not near the top.

I'll second Slow Horses and Severance. I also enjoyed The Morning Show, Lessons in Chemistry, and Bad Monkey. Bad Monkey is best (maybe only) for Vince Vaughn fans.

I've watched all of The Morning Show also. I don't mind the long breaks between seasons. I kind of need a break from some of those people after awhile.

I know Seth Rogen isn't everyone's cup of tea, but The Studio is pretty good. He plays a newly-appointed head of a struggling film studio who tries to balance his desire to make work he is proud of while the CEO (played by Bryan Cranston) demands he capitalize on tacky IP. Tons of cameos and a good satire of the film industry.

Severance is no. 1.

Of shows you haven’t mentioned:
Bad Sisters is decent. Trying is lighter and sweeter. Presumed Innocent is okay. I kinda enjoyed Franklin. There’s Dark Matter. The New Look is really good but many people won’t watch because they think it’s just about fashion. Manhunt, about the Lincoln assassination. Masters of the Air. Some people like Silo. I didn’t. The Afterparty was okay in season 1, not worthwhile in season 2.

about 3/4 thru netflix RESIDENCE . a murder at the white house. suzanne/crazy eyes from Orange is the New Black . still not sure WHODUNNIT. it's entertaining .
makes you pay attention to the smallest details scooby.
ok finished the season. no spoilers. wife guessed the killer before last episode. i using my scooby logic was wrong but not surprised . this was a fun watch. uzo aduba is wonderful
as detective cupp. i can see sequels .

I just watched the first episode of Bet on Netflix and it's so aggressively nonsensical and bonkers that I'm all chips in.

It's about kids at a prestigious high school that base their social hierarchy on gambling.

The kind of dumb fun we need more of.

I finished Top of the Lake over the weekend.

As i said earlier, it's "dark.' In Jane Campion's world, i guess, every woman has been raped many times, been impregnated by rapists, has/had an unwanted child, sold her body or been intrigued by the possibility of such... They all make horrendous decisions. The men are all caricatures of sexual predators/deviants. Once you get past that, though... Elizabeth Moss is pretty fantastic.

I actually liked season two a bit more than one. It's all kind of an interesting take on a 'detective' series, from a definitely not-American perspective.

I finished the first season of Bet on Netflix.

It's as delightfully ridiculous as I could have hoped for. 5 stars.

I’m still in season one. Just as I was tiring of the formula, I got to the episode with S Epatha Merkerson and Judith Light, in the ‘retirement community.’ That was a good’un.

I thought the 2nd season of Shrinking was really good. I didn't like where one of the storylines was trending and how one of the characters was handling a situation, but they wrapped it up nicely in the last episode (trying not to do spoilers for anyone)

I enjoyed Andor, but agree that it's not as good as season 1. Followed it up wih Rogue One which was a great stand alone prequel, but not as good as a sequel.
Just finished today. I think Season 2 absolutely blows Season 1 out of the water to be honest. It's cemented Cassian as the quintessential Star Wars character in my opinion. This show is an incredible achievement.

Yeah. I guess people who play the game expected it, but I have zero familiarity with then anything other than the series. I’m shocked and disappointed. I have a feeling this is going to go the way of The Walking Dead for me. I was into that show for a long time, even watching the aftershow programs. And then I just got tired of it/worn down by the bleakness. With this (s2e2) development, half of the show’s appeal is gone.
I just finished the second season of Last of Us and I wish I hadn’t bothered, and I loved the first season.

My son feels the same as you, and I am with Cuseattle. Different strokes. Glad you enjoyed it.

Happened upon The Automat (on Max.)
A documentary on the old automated lunch restaurants in Philadelphia and New York. Appearances from Mel Brooks,
Carl Reiner, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Colin Powell, and more.
Very cool look back at an innovative company.

Ooh, neat. When I worked in NYC, one of our office phone lines was formerly that of Horn & Hardart. A few times a month I’d get a call from some old timer asking if it was still open.
