I think the "is red the right guy" conversation is going to happen end of this year.We are going to have real issues at the point, I worry about shooting as usual, and I think they can't defend
It's 11/4 I need to relax but it's hard to have confidence

A mid-major (Davis) led the team last night. Carlos had foul trouble - not his best performance, but we will see.Goal is the tournament. Nothing else.
This team isn’t talented. You can’t fill up a roster of mid majors and underperforming P4 guys and expect anything else.
We need to lock up the 2025 class and look to overhaul a lot of the roster.
Red needs to keep growing as a coach.
Through that lens, it’s fine.

He led the team vs a small low major that he was able to over power. I HOPE he can do it vs ACC teams, I think it's valid to question if he canA mid-major (Davis) led the team last night.

It isn’t the roster that matters as much as the top 7. In that top group, you have a top 10 recruit, who will certainly get better over the course of the season and JJ and Bell who can provide scoring. Add Lampkin for some bulk we lacked last season. Plenty to work with including Moore who is raw but also has potential.
I don’t know that overall it is “fine” and the defense certainly needs to improve. Still, no reason to slit wrists after one game.
That's being kind.If Davis is our best player, we will be on the bubble at best.
Maybe if you took the offseason LEVELING expectations instead of building up guys to unreachable levels, it wouldn't be so depressing for you.Nowwww I remember why I stop coming to this board during bball season. Usually it’s about 5-6 games in. This year it only took 1. My goodness are some of you depressing
Correct. But I hate that phrase "all that matters is we won". Not true. Not with a team like ours that is full of new players and trying to figure out how to build a winning team. Against LeMoyne. Thankfully we pulled off the win because that would have been unbelievably damaging for any postseason play which sounds absurd, but it's true! Its 1 game guys. 1 game.
NIT?If Davis is our best player, we will be on the bubble at best.

I think it's always good to breathe and take a step back -- good or bad. So I'm with you on both counts, trying not to get too bent out of shape. But I will say I think the tournament feels like a reach for this group and my bigger worry than that is actually that I'm a bit concerned about Red long-term. Not a 'fire red!!!!' post, just curious to see what our adjustments are and how we proceed in terms of accentuating the positives and trying to scheme around the deficiencies. Whether that means 12-13 wins or 20 is still a question I'm pondering, but if it wound up being a bad season where the roster didn't come together the way he hoped I can live with a bad season. Hopefully, in that scenario, he can find ways to put better rosters together going forward. But it's more that I was really hoping to see some significant strategic adjustments this year and in one tiny sample, we didn't see that.We are going to have real issues at the point, I worry about shooting as usual, and I think they can't defend

Exactly. We need the easy baskets every now and then and our inside game won it for us down the stretch last night. (I understand that ACC bigs will be better than the LeMoyne players.)nice to have forwards that show some grit and passion.
NIT?
They certainly will be, but you cant teach grit and the want to win. We dont look passive or timid and I love it.Exactly. We need the easy baskets every now and then and our inside game won it for us down the stretch last night. (I understand that ACC bigs will be better than the LeMoyne players.)
It's funny you say that because the game thread consistently said we "weren't playing hard" which I disagreed with as well. (Except for Bell on a couple occasions)They certainly will be, but you cant teach grit and the want to win. We dont look passive or timid and I love it.
All that grit and want just to be up by 2 with LeMoyne having the ball with 20s left. They certainly will be, but you cant teach grit and the want to win. We dont look passive or timid and I love it.
"team like ours that is full of new players..". Nine players on Lemoyne roster not on their D-2 team last yearCorrect. But I hate that phrase "all that matters is we won". Not true.
