I'm not Convinced Shrader is any Better...

and not only that but we were pinned deep. Shrader starts his first drive at the 12 yard line. That's not a good situation.

His 1st play was a QB run for 2, then a Tucker run for 3. At 3rd and 5 Gilbert calls a nice play and it's executed little swing pass to Taj (who had motioned to the backfield) he picked up about 9. Should've been a first down but instead we get called for an illegal formation penalty. (and on rewatch I hate this call but it's not wrong. Bergeron lines up nearly two yards deep.)

On the redo 3rd down now at 3rd and 10. Shrader to pass. This is interesting I'd recommend a rewatch here because there is a lot going on. Within 2.5 seconds of the snap Shrader has to scramble. I believe the play is supposed to be a QB draw but it broke down quickly because of two missed blocks. First Veterello and then Tucker. Both miss stunting DEnds who are looping from outside to inside. Shrader has to bail and is sacked within 3.5 seconds of the snap. Even executed correctly play maybe picks up 5.

What's else is going on in this play. We had 4 wide (w/Benson) and single back with Tucker. Rutgers had 5 DBs in coverage, rushed 4 dropping 2 LBs into a medium zone.

First Gilbert sends Benson on a straight fly pattern which wouldn't have been open because there was a deep safety on Benson.

But you have to watch Taj Harris run his route. If I'm a coach and I see this, Taj is demoted immediately starting this Saturday. Unacceptable IMO.
#3 is a shelby hill redux

Yep. Every ounce of this play was on Tisdale and he knew it as he spent the next 10 seconds slapping himself in the face. I give Ellis a shot on that play alone. He A) wont be bull rushed like that just from his physical size and B) players need to start being held accountable for performance. I've really never seen a coach excuse so much mistake prone play and keep running the same kids out there.
He was getting ready to pass to Jackson on a shallow crosser and just didn’t have time,

Tisdale got bull rushed, knocked down and the DT stripped the ball as he was diving at Devito.

2.5 secs from snap to strip.
The last time I've seen an OL so blown up was Omari Palmer against Aaron Donald. Tisdale utterly got destroyed on that play

Excellent analysis of Shrader’s first 2 series and where the breakdowns occurred. I’m hoping the staff can analyze film and come to the obvious conclusions about personnel. I’m not so sure about that though.

It does not matter.

We have no plan or scheme

This - early days on Schrader, so no reason to toss him under the bus at this point.

The play calling on offense, however... I think Gilbert will scuttle the ship and Dino will be forced to go down with it unless someone more competent is brought in.

Madness that he wasn't replaced at the end of last season with someone better...

Gilbert is George McDonald bad.

I want Schrader to play the entire Liberty game or at least 1st half. If he doesn't do well Tommy gets the ACC starts. If he pulls out a W its him.

Hate to disappoint you, but it's delusional to think Tommy won't start every game he is healthy the rest of the year. Dino might have told Shrader he would be competing, but he didn't really mean it.
He says a lot of things he doesn't really mean, coachspeak.
