Information I was told about our bowl game situation

What about aliens? You ever think about that?
I HAVE thought about that ... do you think alien fans travel well? If so then maybe its us versus aliens in Shreveport.

I am so curious about how the ACC will handle Maryland. It would be so awesome to see them sent outside the state. Unfortunately there is money to be made so that won't happen ... but what an epic goodbye that would be.

Also, 'cuse is definitely on the cusp of being much better than its record. Whoever we play is going to have their hands full, I will predict a victory right now regardless of the projected opponent.

I think Maryland being sent to Detroit would be very fitting. Let them get better acquainted.

buffalo vs. Syracuse ... classic true blue game LOL
I would actually find that to be an interesting measuring stick for both programs. It's not like we're going to play a game anybody's drooling over, anyways.

That would be a dumb matchup. No one outside of western New York cares. And even most of them don't.

very few people are going to care about our game no matter who we play. like most bowls, outside of the fans of the teams involved, it will be people sitting around watching non descript teams running around injuring each other

First Annual Lake Effect Bowl, February 1, 2014. Kick-off at 9 AM. Tailgate set-up at 4 AM. Be there! (PS: Coolers banned.)

Sorry if already posted.. BC possibly wanting to go to Dallas freeing up Shreveport for Syracuse?

http://www.bcinterruption.com/bosto...ball-bowl-projections-week-14-heart-of-dallas

Boston College Athletic Director Brad Bates is actually exploring the possibility of giving up a slot in the I-Bowl; opting instead to play the Dallas-based Heart of Dallas Bowl on New Year's Day. The bowl, played in the historic Cotton Bowl, is supposed to match a Conference USA team up against a Big Ten opponent, but the Big Ten will not be able to fulfill its eight bowl slots this season.
"At this point there are still moving targets but the one thing I can tell you is we are exploring every and all options that serve the Boston College community and the students on the team," said Bates. "Anything that that resonates over those two variables is something we are working with the ACC to try achieve.
"We obviously don't have complete autonomy over the decision but we are trying to position Boston College the best way possible."

This is exactly what we need. Right now, the PAC 12 has to get a spot in the Independence to fill the SEC spot because the opponent is an ACC team and there will not be a an ACC vs. ACC game. Therefore, we need to get an ACC team into Dallas. That is because if Dallas goes to PAC 12 and Independence goes to PAC 12 (which it must), that only leaves Pizza available for SU or Pitt, unless Rutgers loses this weekend and opens up the BBVA.

Shreveport is an easy 2.5-3 hr. drive from Dallas. The stadium is right off of I-20. There is gambling and liquor.

First thing to pop in my head is whether the ACC is trying to protect us. We are showing 3rd in the Atlantic division rankings. Could the ACC be telling BC 'look we are trying to get Cuse in the Avocare, and you into Dallas, sorry but they beat you head to head" and this is BC's way of saving face. Fact is it will look bad if the ACC sends both new members to outside bowls, especially the team who came in 3rd behind only FSU and Clemson who are both looking at BCS spots.

Could be. But the fact of the matter is that the ACC needs (1) an ACC team or ND in Dallas or (2) ND to take the SEC's spot in Shreveport in order to get SU and Pitt into bowls. If Dallas goes to Wash State (with Mike Leach as HC), and the Independence's SEC opening goes to Oregon State, either Pitt or SU is out unless Rutgers loses, which is certainly possible.

Don't think BC's interest in Dallas has anything to do with the scenario you suggest. The BC AD has made it pretty clear that given the possible realistic alternatives for BC, they prefer Dallas on January 1. No way of knowing whether they will get their wish, but they want to go there as opposed to some gentle behind the scenes pressure from the Conference.

Why do you think BC wants to go to Dallas to play a CUSA team as opposed to going to Shreveport to play a PAC 12 team? Just curious as to your thoughts.

Shreveport or Dallas? Easy call.

To me, these quotes from the article are highly relevant and are positive as far as SU is concerned:
At this point there are still moving targets but the one thing I can tell you is we are exploring every and all options that serve the Boston College community and the students on the team,” said Bates. “Anything that that resonates over those two variables is something we are working with the ACC to try achieve. “We obviously don’t have complete autonomy over the decision but we are trying to position Boston College the best way possible.”
Clearly, this is not just about BC making a decision based only on their own self-interests with "gentle behind the scenes pressure from the Conference." It sounds more like the league is actively engaged in the discussion, and will look out for the interests of all league members.

Exactly. Putting an ACC team in Dallas is the only move the ACC itself can do to all but guarantee all ACC teams play in bowls. It doesn't surprise me that an ACC school is now saying it prefers Dallas.

very few people care about you or think about what you might think about what they may think about...confused yet. good!

because most people don't care about teams that they don't care about.

people who love college football will watch whatever game is on...period.

I don't care for the bills,i don't care for the NFL all that much, but I do watch some games with teams I don't care about.

Now I an confused

i'm confused too because i think we agree

well that's mighty nice of them.
Reminds me of the face-saving comments from Rutgers fans saying a recruit's offer had been pulled... right after he commits elsewhere.
BC is not in control of its own bowl destiny as this BC fan would like to think.

I never said that BC had control of its destiny. Just like SU, it clearly does not. What I said was that BC does appear to prefer Dallas and its not due to any pressure or face saving vis-a-vis the Conference. The reasons are several:
BC prefers the Dallas location. Easier for alums in the region to get to and MUCH easier for fans/alums in Boston to travel to in comparison to Shreveport. (Don't underestimate this fact for any Northeastern team with a history of fan bowl travel challenges.)
The date is preferable. BC would like to be in the game that kicks off the January 1 football lineup. Good for recruiting.
While the opponent may be from CUSA, it would likely be a team like Rice which would be an interesting draw for BC and might increase the chance of a "W" (an important attainment for a team that was 2-10 last year.)
