Information I was told about our bowl game situation

If the MCB was still available for BC, this wouldn't even be discussed. For BC, they seem to feel Dallas is the best of what is likely available to them. Of course, they certainly don't control their fate here, so we will see how this plays out. Who knows - after this weekend's games, something else might emerge that shakes up the whole board.

I never said that BC had control of its destiny. Just like SU, it clearly does not. What I said was that BC does appear to prefer Dallas and its not due to any pressure or face saving vis-a-vis the Conference. The reasons are several:
BC prefers the Dallas location. Easier for alums in the region to get to and MUCH easier for fans/alums in Boston to travel to in comparison to Shreveport. (Don't underestimate this fact for any Northeastern team with a history of fan bowl travel challenges.)
The date is preferable. BC would like to be in the game that kicks off the January 1 football lineup. Good for recruiting.
While the opponent may be from CUSA, it would likely be a team like Rice which would be an interesting draw for BC and might increase the chance of a "W" (an important attainment for a team that was 2-10 last year.)
If BC actually wants to go to Dallas, then the ACC needs to offer BC to Dallas right now, assuming that they already have not done this. If Dallas accepts BC, then SU or Pitt go to Shreveport and the other to Detroit.

Ok maybe you really do want to go to Dallas and play a non P5 team vs a game with the Pac-12 that might actually generate some interest. You do know what saving face means right? It means you make it seem like you're doing something you want to do so it doesn't look like you're being forced to do it. If they are being pushed towards Dallas I don't think the BC AD is going to say 'umm apparently the league is forcing us out of normal ACC bowl games. It sucks and we're not happy. FU ACC!!!!'

Just a thought......

Well...since NEITHER of us knows definitively...it is fun to speculate. That said, I believe that playing one of the better CUSA teams, in a major market, at a great date/time trumps playing a lower-end P12 team, in a less attractive location to fans, on a less attractive date/time. From what I understand, this is not a face-saving exercise. This is a location that BC would like to go to, given what it perceives to be the alternatives.

What about aliens? You ever think about that?

This seems perfectly logical to me. Travel to a bowl game is about 2-3 days of vacation and seeing your team more than worrying about who the opponent is...particularly for lower tier games like this. dallas > shreveport by a mile on this front. Also, bowl games are a good venue for alumni fundraising. In which metro area would you rather wine and dine high rollers?

Spot-on, Timonen.
Frankly, IMO, both BC and SU would prefer Dallas.

More importantly, does Dallas prefer BC or SU over Washington State and its coach?

No gambling in Dallas unless you are rolling dice in an alley off of Industrial Blvd at 4am in which case you have bigger issues such as staying alive.

(WO)MAN UP!

I have yet to ever see a single person wearing Boston College gear in DFW in 20+ years of living here. I have run into a lot of SU fans over the years.

i don't doubt that one bit (same deal in atlanta, actually), but doesn't alter the point that both teams would find it a more desirable locale than shreveport. since the revenue gets whacked up among each other anyway, i dunno why anyone would choose shreveport if they had other options. (and i say this as someone with a wife from louisiana!).

Wasn't disagreeing with your point, Dallas > Shreveport. Just noting I've never seen or met a BC fan in Dallas, ever. Maybe there's a bunch in Shreveport selling sombreros.

A bowl that is broadcast in our recruiting footprint would be ideal but I guess we won't have much choice. Any plans to recruit Arkansas & Mississippi? Cause that's where we'll be on TV.

??? All these games are on National TV.
Are they really? 4realz?

I seriously only watch 'cuse games and maybe one or two other conference related teams in bowls.

Not me...I watch as many of them as I can...most not closely...you know, TV on while I work around the house.

Being in Florida would be good for recruiting. Can we give recruits tickets? I know it's a dead period.

Probably not if it's a dead period. I would imagine that giving them tickets would constitute "initiating contact", the no-no in dead periods.

not if we give their high school coaches free tickets to give out to who ever;)
