Its strictly twitter chatter between Gottlieb and another CBB writer (dan wolken), but they are going back and forth on who they think would replace JB IF the unthinkable happens.

Names that came out of the convo: Sean Miller, Billy D, Ben Howland

They didn't think Beilein was a big enough name. Its completely meaningless but interesting nonetheless.

All of that said, I hope it never comes to that.

So the assumption is that Hop is bypassed? Personally I don't want to speculate on who the next coach would be.

billy D.?? LOL We can't afford him. Ben Howland. After he gets fired from UCLA. Nope. Sean Miller. I don't think he would leave for Syracuse. He might well be if jb is fired. Doesn't Hop have a contract that assures him the next job. he gave up a million a year at charlotte. think law suit.

Unless they cleaned house, doubtful, it would be Hop.

Those are massive names at massive programs. Not to short sell the Cuse job but I would think all 3 would be major longshots. Hop will be our next coach.

I would take billy the kid or miller,or jay wright. The position with hop I think is if there was a house cleaning

I hate Pitt with the white hot passion of a thousand burning suns.

But Sean Miller's style of play and the way he recruits athletes similar to what we're used to seeing here at Syracuse would make for a really, really interesting hire. I'm no Pitt / Sean Miller fan in general, but he is an outstanding young coach who would make for a seamless transition. He's also a proven commodity.

Ben Howland. Are you ****ing kidding me. If not hop, I would kill for Donovan.

I think we could afford Billy D. This isn't football. We wouldn't go on the cheap with basketball. Ben Howland bores me. Sean Miller -- lateral move.

I just found it interesting how big the names were that they were chatting about.

I hope its Hopkins quite frankly. Keep the stability in the program.

miller is not leaving arizona unless its kentucky or Duke-- guy has it going in Zona why would he move to syracuse NY lets me honest

Haha ok sure all 3 will take a paycut to come to a program in trouble. Right. 'Cuse is not bigtime enough to afford big name coaches.

Let's just go after Calipari! Wooo!

If they were going to go all out and fire JB might as well clean house.

None of those guys would leave their current gigs for Cuse. Howland, if fired and still felt like coaching, would probably love the job... Anyway, I am still hoping another form of "discipline" or additional apology or whatever can be worked out to save JB. Maybe it's best to do that now and possibly stop this momentum from building... Maybe the victims will speak out in support of JB... Who knows... I am just a fan of JB as a person and would hate to see him go out like this

Miller has the number one recruiting class in the country coming in next year and he has Zona on a roll, he isn't going anywhere. I still think we have 4 more years of JB regardless.

Hypothetically, because it's arguably a higher profile job, the Carrier Dome, he's an east coast guy [Beaver Falls, PA], etc.

I didn't say that he WOULD take the job, I'm just saying that it is a hire I could get behind.

If JB is fired they all go. GMac, Hop, Autrey...all of them.

You either clean house or you don't, there is no in-between!

I was under the assumption that Hop was already picked years ago as JB's replacement.
