Is the proverbial shoe about to drop on college basketball royalty?

Also, I wouldn't be slapping backs that SU isn't mentioned in this first release. Thamel and Forde are story tellers, they're dribbling this stuff out for maximum effect. Just when a school declares that this is small potatoes and it's nothing and that player is in a game, out come the next set of leaked documents.
Syracuse would have been mentioned in their first release if they had dirt on them. I'm not saying we won't be in there somewhere but I can tell you for certain that if Thamel had something on Syracuse they would have been listed first. And I got that from someone who likes and respects Thamel.

Nah, what's more embarrassing? Releasing dirty information, or releasing dirty information after watching someone celebrate how clean they were?

For the record, I think most schools (probably the ones who take the most advantage) are going to skate. I don't think this is the end of the information that will be leaked. Those two sentences are not mutually exclusive.
You're wrong

Also - for those saying that the coaches won't get nailed for this because they can claim ignorance... didn't JB vacate over 100 wins because according to the NCAA, he was supposed to know about the "impermissible benefits" to his players? Pretty similar situation here. You can't take down JB for that and let these other coaches skate by.

If David Falk is implicated SU may need to change the name of their Sports Management School.

I dont wish Mr. Falk or the University any harm, and i get how a naming gift works (and of course appreciate the financial contribution), but the name of that school is silly.

Not really cheering for schools to be hurt. From my perspective it is more indicative of how the sanctions we received relative to our infractions were well beyond appropriate. If the Syracuse case is used as a benchmark any NCAA action associated with this probe will have to be monumental. Louisville has to get the death penalty coming on the heels of strippergate. Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and UNC have multiple players with 5 figure payments.
Et tu, UNC, again?!!

Don't see how the schools are going to get fried from what I can follow. If there isn't a direct tie to the money and the school I think all these schools throw their hands up and say "we didn't do it and how are we supposed to stop it". I think that is probably 50/50 on whether that is true. Some schools don't some if not most schools do cheat. We know it, the media knows it and the NCAA knows it, but if a school creating fake degrees so athletes can stay eligible to play isn't raising the ire of the public, I don't think 3 and 4 figure pay outs will either. What I think is good that the "lesser programs" like Wichita and seton Hall have had the curtain pulled back a little on how they are landing guys.

As someone posted earlier this isn't a bombshell - like steroids in baseball, we all know it's happening and deep down we don't care as long as we win.

Knowing the feds, they're leaking out the little stuff first to keep the story alive while the tighten up the bigger stuff. I have a feeling this is going to drag on awhile.

I also wouldn't be surprised if this is a fishing expedition to see how the named schools react... it's not like the feds haven't used entrapment-like procedures in other investigations before... give the institution under investigation enough rope to hang itself...

Wait, what? There are people who like and respect Thamel?

I would fully expect some no name walk on to go off for 16 and 7.
Alex O'Connell and his poor haircut is going for 20, raining 3's on us., quickly becoming one of the most hated Dukies of all-time. That dude is going to be sooooooo hated the next few years.

Ha...imagine if we played Duke tomorrow and they didn't play Bagley or Carter.
Why wouldn't they play Carter, unless somehow Carter gets deemed ineligible over the next 24 hours? If he's ineligible, then he's already been ineligible, so you might as well continue playing him. We learned that lesson with Fab.

Disagree. Continuing to play him would show blatant disregard to the NCAA. It certainly wouldn't help any potential punishments down the road either.
