It was first down dude

Spike the ball. Three shots to the end zone
With the officials resetting the clock, there was time to get a play called in. Maybe they should have had Shrader on a shorter leash, but he has won games at the end before.

I thought we had a wide open WR. I watched this again...we really didn't. Note if you click this link below it should do right to that play

Now...the coverage on the outside receiver was definitely soft. And the safety did come down once he saw the ball thrown to Gadsden. But he was still in a deep zone position and ready to cover the end zone until the ball was thrown. It was still a bad decision, but the idea that we had someone WIDE open just ain't true IMO.

I looked again, too. You're right. Certainly not triple-covered, but not wide open.

yup.. the ball has to be coming out now. 3 man rt. you could dump it to tucker and he has to beat the 1 guy to 1the OB or a first down.. The thing it shows they were in cover 3 and we blocked 7 on 3 so tucker released late but they were giving us that dump off. had we anticipated a 3 man rush we could have gone with 4 wides and created a seam perhaps . given the time he had he needs to pump it to OG because 100% the safety is jumping that throw and the corner is handing off Jackson to him.. then he would have been open.

I have no problem with how Garrett played Saturday or basically all season. How can you complain about 70% passing, 13 touchdowns vs 4 picks and 6 more rushing TDs?

Dino is a good coach for the first 28 minutes of each half, but there's something in his brain that shuts down in the final two minutes of halves. In all three of our prior close games against Clemson his ineptitude screwed us over beyond belief.

2018: doesn't use timeouts when it was obvious Clemson was about to score, leaving us nothing to work with. This isn't just me talking. I specifically remember McDonough being confused about it.

2021: attempts a 50 yard goal on 4th and 2 or whatever with a minute left.

2022: blows 30 seconds we desperately needed for literally no reason.

I like Dino a lot, but this is a horrible pattern of having no feel for the game in late game situations.

Some of y’all are nuts. Wildcat QB? My god. The kid has balled out all year and throws it good enough. Not every kid that gets under center for Syracuse is going to be a day 1 or 2 pick in the NFL draft.

He’s competing 70 percent of his passes and is a nightmare for other teams to game plan against. Not every program has a Trotter or Simpson to spy him.

In fact, true pocket passers usually don’t do so well here - we’ve seen that picture for 35 years, from Scharr to Divito.

He’s a kid that made a bad pass. It happens. Guess what, he won the GD Purdue game too. So I’ll take the wildcat QB all day, because we are 6-1, and came within a call or two from being 7-0 this year.

Did you really think we’d even be 6-1 this year? Probably not. Enjoy the ride and quit being unbearable. These seasons are rare around these parts.

The LOS was the Clemson 30 w/17 secs. left. Enough time to make 4 end zone shots. If you're going to force it anywhere do it in the endzone. Forcing a short throw has no upside.
The fact that they were putting 3 guys on Gadsden means somewhere else there was light coverage. Unless they were allowed more than 11 defenders, which may have been allowed by the ACC rules for Clemson
