It's over - What's next?

It's fairly obvious that this SU football season is over. There might be one game left on the schedule they "could" win (vs UNC). So where do we go from here as a fanbase?

-Do we stop showing up? That seems counterproductive to being a good fan and showing support for a team that wants to recruit new talent.
-Bitch and complain? That's what this board is for.
-Grin and bear it? Ahhh life of a Syracuse football (or any sports) fan. Just accept the sweet reality that seasons like 2024 are very rare and more often than not we're living in a world where 6 wins is a "good" year.
-Find ways to support the team through NIL?
-Sit home and do nothing. That's no fun.

BC is 1-6 and just lost at home to UConn by 15.

Can we at least pretend to keep that as a potential win even if you don't believe it? Pitt beat them recently 48-7.

If they get to 5-7 thats not a lost year with this level of QB play. The fact that we were even in the game vs Pitt is a plus to me.

There is always the chance Miami implodes as well with the level of QB play Beck is giving them.

We are seeing some positives this year.
Our coaches can ID talent and develop it, see the defensive freshman and how quickly they are coming along
Another great class coming in and our depth is only going to get stronger
We might have figure out the defenses ID now that we have Dr. Blitz helping out

Some big things to work on the rest of the season:
Nixon needs to figure out what an outside run is and mix in some passes that Collins can make and keep him out of the deep middle of the field. We have a legit top 5 TE and don't really use him...
QB experience, not getting any further into this bag of worms
Playing experience for this VERY young team

I don't know any team in the country that could replace 10 offensive starters and have a 8 plus win season
Clemson peaked our hopes but one bad Achilles turned it into a rough learning year
It will most likely be a 4 -5 win season but anyone would say Fran had 14-15 wins in his first two years would be over the moon

I wonder if our oline moves well enough to even try outside runs. Even those require some level of holding blocks to get out there, How can we run toss or counters when the inside gets blown up.

We will beat BC - I am not as sold that UNC will be as easy as some here seem to think.

The only sliver of hope I have left is that they finally give Carney the reins and he is able to eek us to 6 wins, which would mean a surprise upset along the way. And in doing so, solidify the backup job and earn him some decent NIL coin for next year.

So if we can finish 5-7 after losing our starting QB and get a lot of the kids some experience heading in to next year, I say that's a solid campaign to build from as far as the program goes. Is it disappointing after seeing what we could have been...sure. But not time to pack it in. Still a ton of promise for the program long term.

We watch the rest of the games and hope we get to 6-6, then, and more importantly we keep an eye out on Angeli's recovery with the hope he is ready for summer camp. In the meantime, we watch the portal wire at end of year, expecting DL, OL and Safety signings, while making sure we keep our coveted HS recruits. All this with the intention of seeing us mount the expected ACC championship and playoff contention in 2026.

In other words, we keep on with what everyone expected before this season started (sans Angeli's recovery).

The other issue is whether we can keep AD, Samuels, the receivers, etc. Teams are going to come after our players hard, knowing we may not have the $$$ to keep them all. Meanwhile, Collins stinking problems nets Angeli more money despite the injury because we have to sell his presence to the rest of the team to keep as much as possible in place.

No. Even though it has been tabled odds are the 5 for 5 concept will be enacted before he exhausts his eligibility. And with transfer portal and early draft eligibility the elephants in the room you might be just saving a year that will never happen at SU.
