It's sad the Big East is at this point! It's even sadder that ND is why this happened!

I don't think the BE approached Notre Dame first.

I think they just showed up on our doorstep looking for a home for their BB and Non-Rev sports, and we took them in.

Actually, ND should never been allowed to get it's other sports in the door, period. We got what? A minor bowl tie in due to them? Gee great. The BE would have existed nicely without their other sports.

100% in agreement.

Problem is, the BB's would allow the addition of WVa & RU only if ND were part of the deal. (VT had to wait even longer to become a full member). The BB's major concern was not being out-voted, and adding ND to their side of the conference assured that.

In hindsight, it would have been better to hold off on adding any teams to the 10-team BB conference in 1995, turn up the heat on UConn to upgrade their football sooner, and then split from the remaining 5 BB's, and reconstitute as an 8-team FB conference.
