Jack Ryan Season 2

Found the premise of season 2 to be a bit lacking as compared to season 1.

i'm only 1 episode in and that already bothered me

the ambush scene very heavily borrowed from (the excellent & highly recommended) bbc show "bodyguard"

i mean, shockingly similar

We just finished episode 2. It is good so far but not great. I have the same complaints as season 1 - the story line is good but not complex. Compared to shows I really enjoyed, e.g., Breaking Bad, the Wire, Dexter, etc., there really is only one story line and set of characters.

was it or is it from the 50 books in the series?
i read that it's very loosely based on "clear & present danger," but i think "somewhat borrows from" that book is more accurate

i'm disappointed how they've chosen to portray venezuelan politics: the autocratic president ruining the country is a right winger & the savior is a socialist, which turns the actual situation on its head
