Jackson Meeks to NFL Draft

he’s a guy who i wish had a couple years at Cuse. He definitely could have been an all-time favorite. Loved watching him play. Reminded me of Hines Ward
Good comp. He’s extremely physical for a WR. I’ll never forget the shot he took against Cal on his TD in that game. I thought there was no chance he’d get right up, but he did, and he did his Certified Strikers celly like always

I can see that. But Meeks is 2" taller.

That was legendary. Took the souls of the cal defensive players right there.

Meeks provides the best early example of one of Fran's cultural objectives. He took a kid buried on Special Teams and got him ready for the NFL in a year. All of the other transfers already had hype. Who will be our Meeks next year? From outside to upside? Justice Ross-Simmons... Will Nixon... Rickie Collins... Zeed Haynes...

Meeks was so good this year. Strong with the contested catches, physical, willing blocker, capable of making high difficulty plays.

That big boy TD vs Miami is play of the year for me.

He was great. Took him two games to get his sea legs, then he was unstoppable.

He, Pena, and Gadsden were a helluva trio.

I am surprised that not one student is on this board who could comment on people in the student registry. But we would know in a month or so anyway

Second play of the year for me. The fourth down run by LA is tops in my book

I wonder how he graded out at SU in speed when they measured things up. Was he one of our top speed WRs?

I don't know that you can really point to any single play that showed high end speed all year. But he got free with quickness/toughness off the line and made touch catches and that makes up for it.

I could not watch the Miami game live, family stuff on Thanksgiving weekend. I DVR'ed and just started watching. My jaw dropped when the broadcasters said Cuse led the NATION (!!!) in contested catches. Meeks was huge in this department. It seemed he owned every 50-50 ball. We have not had receivers like Pena, OG and Meeks since Sales and Lemon during the Marrone years. Amba, Tristan (sp?) Jackson and Jamal Custis were good too but the Pena/OG/Meeks trio was unbelievable.

Yeah it’s a truely amazing stat for us considering what weve seen recently at WR. I’ve been rewatching the Miami game over the past couple nights as well and Peña surprising has been superb in this area as well. Was excellent being physical and making contested catches the entire year and in that game as well. Ross Douglas deserves some serious props, much more than he has gotten. A lot of the success is heart and athletic ability, but WR coaching and technique plays a large part as well. What he’s done in helping to accelerate the production from Peña, Meeks, and Gill has been fantastic.

From the first interview I saw with the kid, I loved him. Had no idea if he could play but he carried himself with confidence. So much so I picked him as my leading receiver in the Cali awards prediction thread at 83 Receptions (Way off on yards, but who knew)

Speaking of the Cali Awards, when are they going to be officially presented? Trueblue25?
