Jay Bromley to the Giants

The reason is this happens every year. It happened with Pugh and the Jones brothers. The same thing happens on the basketball board. SU fans seem to under value the players and the program and I don't like seeing it. I've referred to it as the syracuse complex in the past. I stated months a go that I thought he was good enough to be a first round pick. I think he had a much better career than chandler jones did I see nothing but upside in this kid. Time will tell but I think he will have successful NFL career. As far as NFL scouts go they miss all the time too. Let's not forget there will be players that aren't even drafted this year that will become star players so that means all the scouts missed .

Let's be real, most SU fans here greatly *overrate* our players. Go read a spring game or practice report, where you'll see phrases like "one of the best in the country" tossed around casually.

Two die-hard Giants fans wonder if a guy was taken a round or two early, which is really freakin' important in the NFL because of cap implications, and you use it to rip them and lambaste the entire fanbase.

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

I'd love to see the film on Bromley from each year. Last season he was held several times in several games that I noticed without a flag being thrown. Of course I'm biased so it may have been nothing out of the ordinary, but something tells me he shined brightly on the film.

So you're saying he's not a good enough player to be drafted in the 3rd round? You're saying he probably won't have a good NFL career?

Let me try to explain in simple English:

I was surprised he went as high as he did.

What I mean by that was: I thought you would not be drafted as high. In other words: I thought he would be drafted later. Put differently: "Wow. He was taken in the third round when he was expected to be a bit later."

Anything regarding rooting against him or thoughts on his career are concoctions from your own mind. Which can be fun!...but in this case really wrong.

To summarize this thread.

Happy for him, great pick, wonder if they could have gotten him in the 5th instead of the 3rd but happy anyway.

YOU JUST HATE SU PLAYERS! THEY ARE SO UNFAIRLY TREATED HERE!

You translate MadNY3 perfectly.

Nice.

It's as if they don't understand the very nature of the draft.

You see kids, the idea is to get the best player you can...as late as possible.

Comprende??

74th overall – DT Jay Bromley 6’3 306 lbs from Syracuse – This was a need pick so it is very understandable. Once again, I just question the value they got on this pick. Bromley was projected for rounds four or five. It’s the guy they want, but they may have reached. Does Jerry Reese know best? How he fits in – If you take the value out of the pick, Bromley fits in perfectly to a team that lost their big DT in Linval Joseph. He should find significant playing time as a rookie and should be able to make an impact. The pick itself fills a big need. - See more at: http://proplayerinsiders.com/nfl-pl...ft-day-2-recap-nfc-east/#sthash.NzjK8Xu4.dpuf

Grade: B The Giants got three players in the first three rounds that will likely see time on opening day and not just on special teams. For a team that is threadbare at several positions, this was the plan. Bromley would not have been there in round four the way the draft was shaping up.

Jay strikes me as the type of kid that will work his A$$ off to prove everyone who doubted him wrong. The Giants drafted the right kid at the right time, he will prove me right.

" This kid has been an underdog his whole life" - Jerry Reese

"Jay Bromley anchors the room" - Tim Daost

Keep in mind that this is coming from a Cowboys fan. Hate the Giants, love this kid and wish him the best!

If anyone thinks Jay could be in the DT rotation from day one, you shouldn't be surprised at all by where he was selected.

Stock was rising, good teammate, low risk, coachable player, solid size.

Really not sure why it's surprising. Maybe on the front end of the expectation curve, but he's there to play legit snaps, not be a special teamer.

Bromley is a coachable kid who leads by example. Shafer and Marrone LOVED this kid when they saw him at the NY All-Star game 4 years back.

Great story, good for him. I bet he's starting in 2 years.

Good for Bromley. I was really surprised by a third rounder but I knew that real scouts would know he was more than a late round DT in comparison to the rest of the talent out there.
